Drew Moor scored the only goal of the match in a 1-0 victory for Colorado over FC Dallas. The defender powered home a header in the 26th minute, giving the home side all it would need to walk away with a win and keep Dallas in a downward spiral.

"Scoring early goals always gives you confidence, especially when it is the first one," Moor said. "This week we showed character by protecting the lead, which we have had trouble at times throughout in the season.

The Rapids should have been up 2-0 in the 52nd minute when Sanna Nyassi raced in on goal alone, but Kevin Hartman sped forward 30 yards from goal. Nyassi tried to take on the shot rather than touch around the goalkeeper, pushing his effort just wide of the mark.

Dallas finished the match up a man after Miguel Comminges was sent off for a second yellow card in the 74th, and in the stoppage time Marvin Chavez nearly made Colorado pay. The forward raced onto a loose ball after Brek Shea had been denied, but with Colorado keeper Matt Pickens well off his line Chavez sent his chip over the bar.

The match was FC Dallas' fourth straight league loss, and the team hasn't scored in MLS play since Aug. 27. For Colorado, the win leaves the club on 45 points, just one back of Dallas.

"To beat Dallas means that we are that much closer to them and hopefully puts a little bit more pressure on them to get results," Rapids coach Gary Smith said. "We are going to try and chase them down."
