LA Galaxy 2-1 Morelia: Late Juninho strike keeps CONCACAF Champions League Group A open

With a draw that would see Morelia through to the knockout round looming, Juninho hit a winner in the dying minutes.

By Zac Lee Rigg

Everything is even at the top of Group A in the CONCACAF Champions League after a 2-1 win by the LA Galaxy brought them level on nine points with Morelia and LD Alajuelense. A late Juninho strike sealed the win.

Mike Magee stabbed home the opener after Todd Dunivant pulled it back to him in the box.

In the second half, substitute Bryan Jordan only managed to tip the ball into a more dangerous position when he tried to cut out a through-ball. Rafael Marquez Lugo capitalized to score the equalizer.

The Mexican side poured on the pressure, carving out several chances and clanking one effort off the post.

But the Galaxy won it late with a Juninho volley from a Landon Donovan corner. Dunivant looked in an offside position during the play, but was ruled passive and the goal stood.
