Mexico 1-0 Chile: Guardado goal gives Mexico a win over Chile
An Andres Guardado goal from a free kick was all Mexico needed to take a win over Chile.

Andres Guardado got the only goal of the game as Mexico got back to its winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Chile on Sunday.
After drawing with Poland on Friday, the match against Chile looked like it would offer plenty of excitement with both sides possessing plenty of attacking options. But neither team opted to come out of the gates with its best XI on the pitch, and the play in the first half showed it.
Giovani dos Santos was back in the starting lineup for Mexico, but with no Javier Hernandez, Pablo Barrera or Guardado around him, the talented winger was one of the few really bright spots to a half that lacked any real cutting edge.
Chile also relied on some of its lesser players, opting to leave Alexis Sanchez and Mauricio Isla out of the starting team.
Sanchez entered the match just before halftime with Barrera, Guardado and Hernandez all introduced for Mexico within 15 minutes of the restart, and Isla also came in on 67 minutes. The mass changes brought a new life to the game and the chances started coming soon after, but it wasn't until late in the match that either team managed to find the net.
Guardado's winner finally came in the 79th minutes. Barrera's run at Chile's defense drew a foul at the top corner of the box. Guardado stepped up and curled a lovely left-footed effort into the top corner, leaving Chile little time to respond and giving Mexico a deserved 1-0 win.
