Simeon Jackson scored a first-half hat-trick to lead Canada to a 7-0 thrashing of St. Lucia. Oliver Ocean and Iain Hume each notched a brace.

"We were creating changes left, right and centre," Hume said. "They were holding that silly high line and they were running out and I think every time we got the ball we had a chance of breaking them down."

The win keeps Canada perfect in CONCACAF Round 2 World Cup qualifying with nine points from three games. Earlier, the Canucks beat St. Lucia 4-1 in Canada, but soared to the country's largest victory in an official match in the away leg.

With Kevin McKenna injured, Dwayne De Rosario served as captain. One goal away from the international record, he was not involved in the scoring.

"It was a huge honour first to represent my country and second to captain the side," the D.C. United midfielder said. "It was a much-needed win, I was very pleased by the way we came out."

Will Johnson came off injured after 17 minutes, replaced by Terry Dunfield.

Norwich City striker Jackson's hat-trick was the second in qualifying in Canadian history. Alex Bunbury, father of U.S. striker Teal, scored the first in 1992.

Canada faces Puerto Rico next on Oct. 11 at BMO Field in Toronto.

"We still have to finish the games off and obviously the next one’s going to be a tough one," Jackson said. "We’re going to go out there and try win the game put ourselves in an even better position."
