Roberto Soldado netted a hat-trick as Valencia thrashed Belgian champions Genk 7-0 at the Estadio de Mestalla as Champions League Group E is precariously poised ahead of the final round of matches.
Jonas' superb header put los Che ahead inside 10 minutes and Soldado doubled the lead soon after. Valencia's captain completed his treble before the break putting the result beyond any doubt with two well taken goals.
Further strikes from Pablo Hernandez, Artiz Aduriz and Tino Costa in the second half gave the home side its biggest margin of victory in UEFA competition.
In a bright opening, Genk was denied a penalty in the fifth minute after Thomas Buffel appeared to be bundled over following Victor Ruiz's clumsy challenge.
Unai Emery's side responded in emphatic fashion when Jonas' intuitive run to the near post saw the Brazilian flick Costa's wicked cross past a helpless Laszio Koteles putting Valencia ahead.
Los Che doubled their lead soon after when Jonas turned provider. The in-form midfielder slid the ball into the path of Soldado who cut inside his marker before cooly slotting home.
Following Soldado's strike Genk was gifted two chances in quick succession to halve the deficit and was ruing its missed opportunities soon after.
Jonas' through ball found Soldado who blasted an unstoppable strike into the top corner of the net for his second goal and just three minutes later, the Valencia captain completed his hat-trick before halftime.
Pablo Hernandez peeled away to the far post and his low cross found Soldado unmarked to tap home, completing the fastest hat-trick in the Champions League since Alan Shearer's treble in 2003.
In the 68th minute, Pablo Hernandez netted Valencia's fifth goal of the evening with a perfectly placed strike from the edge of the area and it was six moments later.
Aduriz outmuscled his opponent before slipping the ball past Koteles minutes after he had replaced hat-trick hero Soldado.
Valencia had chances to extend its advantage but an inspired performance by Genk 'keeper Koteles kept the Spanish side at bay until Costa thrashed home the seventh goal of the evening on the rebound.
Los Che are now level on points with Chelsea in Group E following tonight's victory, leaving qualification precariously poised ahead of their visit to Stamford Bridge in the final match.
Meanwhile, Genk will finish bottom of the group following its heaviest defeat in Europe and is no longer able to qualify for the Europa League as a result.
