Genoa boss Alberto Malesani will be without the team's leading scorer Rodrigo Palacio who is suspended for Friday's encounter. Cesare Bovo, Luca Antonelli and Ze Eduardo will also miss out due to injury.
Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri will be without the services of Alessandro Nesta who is out for three weeks after sustaining a hip injury in the Champions League loss to Barcelona last week. Daniel Bonera will likely partner Thiago Silva in the Italian's absence.
Marco Amelia may get the nod to start between the posts on Friday after Christian Abbiati trained apart from the rest of his teammates on Wednesday.
