Getafe 5-1 Sevilla: Five-star hosts humiliate Andalusians on Michel's return to the Coliseum

The home side embarrassed its former manager on his return to the Coliseum with a four-goal second half

In one of the most entertaining games of La Liga, Michel did not fare well against his former team as Getafe crushed Sevilla with a 5-1 victory at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez on Monday evening.

A superb overhead goal by Alvaro Negredo was cancelled out by Miguel Torres' equalizer.  In the second half, Mehdi Lacen scored the go-ahead goal before Pedro Rios took the game over, assisting both of Miku's goals and scoring one himself.

The home side was the first to create goal-mouth action but failed miserably to capitalize on a fantastic opportunity.  After a glaring cross from the right found Miku unmarked in the middle, the Venezuelan sent his effort sailing over the crossbar when it would have been easier to score.

After a period of obscurity, Negredo spectacularly brought side back into the match. Piotr Trochowski looped a cross over a frozen backline to find an open Negredo who finished with a world class overhead kick that left the home side stunned.  The lethal striker scored what will surely be recognized as one of the goals of the season.

The Azulones would not allow what had been an inferior Sevilla side to take control. When Luis Garcia Plaza's men created another point blank, goal-mouth opportunity, they would not falter. After a Jaime Gavillan corner had created a scramble in Sevilla's box, the ball eventually bounced to Torres who tapped past Varas to equalize.

In the second half, the home side came flying out of the gates and caught their opposition on a quick counterattack.  Diego Castro was picked out in Sevilla's box by a cross from the right.  Unable to hold possession, the forward passed back and was able to find Lacen who buried his strike from the edge of the box past Javi Varas.

The goal inspired Getafe and it was all over its opposition by the time Rios slalomed past Julien Escude. The creative winger would cut his pass into the middle of the box to find Miku who made up for his earlier mistake and scored his side's third goal.

The home side would not halt its march towards Sevilla's goal and scored again when Rios rose above his marker to head in Mane's cross.

By this point, Sevilla had thrown in the towel and simply looked to play out the remaining minutes of the second half but Rios would not allow it. Dribbling into the middle of the pitch, Rios played Miku into the box with a clever through ball and the striker placed his effort past a hopeless Varas for his second and Getafe's final goal of the night.

With the victory, Getafe is now tied with Sevilla and three other clubs in seventh place. The Andalusian side and its manager will go home with their heads down after being thoroughly humiliated.
