Juan Pablo Angel managed to keep Chivas USA's playoff hopes alive with a brace in a 3-0 win over Toronto FC, marking his fifth and sixth goals since joining the Goats.
Angel opened the scoring in the 12th minutes, catching TFC on the break. Justin Braun found Ante Jazic, who supplied the cross for Angel to nod home.
Braun doubled the lead after a cross from Michael Umaña in the 71st minute, and Angel finished off the scoring six minutes later with a shot from the edge of the box.
“I think if you see the whole game, Chivas were the better team," TFC coach Aron Winter said. "They made a better impression than us. We were a little bit flat today."
Toronto faces a tough match Tuesday night, a must-win situation in the CONCACAF Champions League against Mexican side Pumas. Angel and Chivas USA will next face off with the Philadelphia Union on Oct. 2.
