Real Salt Lake made sure it didn't lose three on the trot and did so in emphatic fashion. A 3-0 result handily dispatched the visiting New York Red Bulls, who haven't won in five straight MLS matches.
Salt Lake conceded twice in the opening 10 minutes in the 2-0 loss to the Columbus Crew, but this time got off to the faster start. A Kyle Beckerman corner was nodded home by Nat Borchers in the 13th minute to open the scoring.
Then, with the sides preparing to head into the break, 17-year-old Luis Gil scored his first MLS goal to double the lead. Beckerman assisted again.
Frank Rost picked up a quad injury and was replaced by Bouna Coundoul at halftime, but the Senegalese 'keeper wasn't spared either. Alvaro Saborio thwacked a penalty past him in the 76th minute after Roy Miller handled in the area.
