- The Sounders played many of their first-choice starting XI in a 3-1 U.S. Open Cup victory over the Galaxy on Wednesday.
- Rapids forward Mac Kandji is almost ready to return to the lineup after suffering a torn ACL in November's MLS Cup. He is targeting next weekend to return to the team.
- Seattle signed head coach Sigi Schmid to a contract extention Thursday that could keep him at the club until 2015.
