Twente has recorded a 2-2 draw against PSV at the Grolsch Veste in Saturday evening's Eredivisie encounter.
Center back Douglas gifted Twente the lead early on, but PSV immediately levelled the scoring again via Zakaria Labyad. Defender Marcelo then made it 2-1 for the Eindhoven side before substitute Leroy Fer restored parity once more shortly after PSV's Kevin Strootman was sent off.
The home side started the match superbly and needed only 10 minutes to grab the lead. Brazilian defender Douglas beat Ola Toivonen to the ball after a corner from the right and found the net with a low shot.
Nevertheless, PSV wasn't too impressed and immediately hit back. Georginio Wijnaldum shrugged off Wout Brama before sending in a low cross for Zakaria Labyad and the promising youngster beat the Twente goalkeeper with a somewhat fortunate finish.
The Eindhoven side came close to scoring the 2-1 in the dying minutes of the first half via Ola Toivonen, but Nikolay Mihaylov denied the Swede with a superb reflex save. There was nothing the Bulgaria international could do about Marcelo's attempt in the 64th minute though as the towering defender beat Luuk de Jong in the air before heading home at the far post.
PSV was dealt a huge blow in the 72nd minute when Kevin Strootman controversially received his marching orders after a foul on De Jong and Twente took advantage of its numerical advantage shortly after. Ola John sent in a cross from the left and substitute Leroy Fer tapped home from close range to salvage a draw for the hosts.
Twente sits third in the table following Saturday's results with 22 points from 11 games. The Tukkers' next match is Thursday's Europa League match at home versus Odense.
PSV remains second in the table with as many points as its opponents. It resumes match action on Thursday when it hosts Hapoel in the Europa League.
