The Swedish youngster again showed his class as he played a key role in the Rotterdam giants' home win

A fantastic third hat trick in as many home games from John Guidetti inspired Feyenoord to a 3-1 win over Vitesse at De Kuip in Sunday afternoon's Eredivisie encounter.

The teenage sensation gifted the hosts an early lead after a corner kick, before doubling Feyenoord's tally from the spot. Nicky Hofs then pegged one back for Vitesse when he converted a spot kick, but Guidetti was on hand once more to complete his treble and put the match to bed in the closing stages of the game.

The home side started the match superbly and broke the deadlock after only 12 minutes of play. Kelvin Leerdam headed a Jordy Clasie corner goalwards, and Guidetti deflected the ball past the Vitesse goalkeeper with his shoulder to make it 15 goals in 15 Eredivisie appearances.

The Rotterdam giants again found the net at the half-hour mark after the referee awarded them a spot kick following Frank van der Struijk's foul on Guidetti. The latter stepped up to take it, and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to make it 2-0.

Nevertheless, Vitesse got back into the game after Kelvin Leerdam handled the ball inside his own area. Former Feyenoord midfielder Hofs didn't fail from 12 yards, and scored his second goal of the season.

The Arnhemmers came close to levelling the scoring after the break, but Mike Havenaar headed wide from a dangerous position, while Marco van Ginkel's powerful shot was saved by Erwin Mulder.

The inevitable Guidetti then put the match to bed after 83 minutes. Ruben Schaken, who had missed a sitter minutes before, set up the young Swede inside the box, and the striker fired home from a narrow angle to net his third hat trick in Feyenoord's last three games at De Kuip.

Feyenoord has climbed to join third spot in the table following this weekend's results with 40 points from 21 games. It hosts RKC in its next league encounter.

Vitesse lies 7th in the Eredivisie with 32 points. Its next match is the home game against Twente on Feb. 19.
