Borussia Dortmund managed to bounce back from its defeat to Hoffenheim last weekend with a solid 2-0 win over Nurnberg at the Signal-Iduna-Park.

After a quiet first half the reigning Bundesliga champions stepped up their game after the break, and ultimately bagged the three points, courtesy of a double salvo by Robert Lewandowski and Kevin Grosskreutz.

The first real chance of the game came ten minutes in when Christian Eigler failed to find the back of the net from eight yards out, following a break down the right by U.S. international Timothy Chandler. Javier Pinola had a dangerous shot fly off target as Nurnberg was gradually gaining momentum.

Jurgen Klopp's men started the second half much more aggressively, and soon opened the scoring with a brilliant team move, which left Nurnberg's defense stunned and completely helpless.

In the 50th minute Lukas Piszczek released Mario Gotze on the right with a sublime through-ball, the Germany international in turn found Lewandowski in space just outside the six-yard box, and the Polish striker finished off with a superb shot.

The ex-Lech Poznan man nearly doubled his tally ten minutes later, but a superb save by debutant Patrick Rakovsky prevented Nurnberg from falling two behind.

Substituted Ivan Perisic hit the post with a dipping header in the 74th minute after a cross by Jakub Blaszczykowski as Dortmund was tightening the grip. Julian Weissmeier wasted a great chance to draw his team level shortly after, but failed to find the target from seven yards out.

Germany international Grosskreutz put the game out of Nurnberg's reach in the 80th minute with a second goal, which sealed the points for the reigning Bundesliga champions.

The winger controlled the ball in midfield, and made a 20-yard run through the center under no pressure at all before sending a strong shot, which deflected off Timm Klose before looping over Rakovsky and in the net.
