Player Ratings: Fulham 2-1 Norwich City

The hosts dominated for long stretches, and defended solidly in the closing stages to claim a well earned three points, with good performances from Clint Dempsey and Moussa Dembele

    Mark Schwarzer

Wasn't forced into too much action as the hosts dominated. Made a good stop from Hoolahan in the second half though, and claimed the ball well, looking to get Fulham going as soon as he got the ball. Could do nothing about the deflected goal, but didn't let it bother him as he continued to play well.

  • Stephen Kelly

    Stephen Kelly

Got up the line very well, and in the process made a permanent claim for the right back role. Had one opportunity when his run was found by Ruiz, but had his moment to shine blocked by a good tackle.

  • John Arne Riise

    John Arne Riise

Looked shaky in the early stages, taking too long in possession. But got going and did well in an attacking sense, taking on a few players before having his shot from a tight angle saved.

    Brede Hangeland

A really solid performance from the center back, winning everything in the air.

    Aaron Hughes

Defended solidly, clearing any danger. Was desperately unlucky to see a shot deflect off his leg and past Schwarzer.

    Danny Murphy

Controlled the game for Fulham, his passing was spot on, and made plenty of good tackles and interceptions. He did his job well, constantly finding Dembele and linking well.

  • Damien Duff

    Damien Duff

Made a great run to get beyond his marker, and curled an effort beyond Ruddy, despite a helping hand from the keeper. Kept his performance level up, combining well with Kelly on the right.

  • Clint Dempsey

    Clint Dempsey

A fantastic start for the American. Like all good strikers, he followed in Bryan Ruiz's shot and was duly rewarded as it was palmed out for him to knee the ball home. Sent Duff through with a really well timed pass for the second. Missed a couple of chances with difficult headers, but led the line well.

  • Moussa Dembele

    Moussa Dembele

Classy as ever on the ball, playing some nice link up with Dempsey for the first goal. Ran the show for much of the game, silkily evading his opponents.

  • Pavel Pogrebnyak

    Pavel Pogrebnyak

Won the ball well in the air and was a constant thorn in the side for Norwich's defence. They would have been glad to see the back of him after he was substituted with an ankle injury.

  • Bryan Ruiz

    Bryan Ruiz

Did well with the opening goal, keeping the ball nicely and cutting in to shoot. Was a little wasteful on the ball, but found his team-mates with some really nice passes on occasion.

    Alexander Kacaniklic

Came on for the injured Pogrebnyak and almost added a wonder goal in the opening minutes of the second half, curling an effort that Ruddy just pushed onto the bar.

    John Ruddy

Will be the first to admit he didn't quite get it right for the opening goal, palming the shot straight out in front of him. Got a hand to the second but couldn't keep it out. Made a good start to the second half, tipping Kacaniklic's effort onto the bar.

    Zak Whitbread

Defended solidly but was let down by some poor marking from his team for the two goals. Was sacrificed at halftime as the Canaries went in search of goals.

  • Elliot Ward

    Elliot Ward

Was unpopular with the home fans after a late challenge on Ruiz earned him a booking, but from a seemingly innocuous challenge he left Pogrebnyak in a heap, and the striker was subbed.

    Kyle Naughton

Employed on the left but didn't look comfortable, cutting in on his right when he should have been attacking Kelly down the flank. Was exposed when he lost Duff for the second goal.

    Ryan Bennett

Making his debut for the Canaries, and kept them in the game just before half-time with a fantastic block to save a goal. Made a similar intervention in the second half, flying in to stop Kelly getting in a shot from close range.

    Andrew Surman

Struggled to keep up with some of Fuham's counterattacking, leaving the defense slightly exposed on the left.

    Wesley Hoolahan

Held the ball well and tried to link the play between midfield and attack but was never really given much time on the ball in the first half.

    David Fox

Came off in the second half as the visitors looked for goals. He slotted in just in front of the defense but couldn't get close enough to Dempsey to prevent him finding Duff for the opener.

    Jonny Howson

Missed the visitors' best chance of the first half with an effort from close range that he stubbornly hit with his left foot when his right was the better option.

    Steve Morison

Battled well in the air but was deprived of service before his substitution. Won a few flick-ons, but faced a formidable challenge up against Hangeland.

Changed the game when he came on, grabbing Norwich's goal via a deflection. He did have other opportunities as well, but sliced a late effort.
