Premier League Preview: Tottenham - Blackburn Rovers

Harry Redknapp's men have looked increasingly unlikely to return to the Champions League and Steve Kean's side will be desperate to add to last weekend victory.

Benoit Assou-Ekotto (shoulder) is the latest Tottenham man to be ruled out for the season, alongside the trio of Englishmen David Bentley (knee), Tom Huddlestone (ankle) and Jermaine Jenas (Achilles). Midfielder Niko Kranjcar (knee) is also a doubt for Croatia’s Euro 2012 finals campaign.

Louis Saha (groin) has shaken off a problem that kept him out of last weekend’s loss at QPR. Younes Kaboul (knee) and Emmanuel Adebayor (hamstring) have recovered from their injury woes and are likely to feature on Sunday. Goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes (knee) and center back Michael Dawson (ankle) remain out for an unknown period of time with their fitness difficulties.

Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean, by contrast, has a small injury list to worry about. Grant Hanley (ankle) is believed to be out for the remainder of the season and Vincenzo Grella (hip) is showing no sign of a return for the Ewood Park club.

  DID YOU KNOW?
  • Tottenham has won just six points in its last nine games - only already-relegated Wolves have a worse record over the same period.
  • Yakubu (pictured right) is Blackburn’s top goalscorer this season with 16 goals in the league campaign. Heading into this weekend’s round of matches he is joint-fifth with Fulham forward Clint Dempsey and Newcastle’s Demba Ba.
  • Spurs have beaten the Lancashire club in each of their last five encounters.
  • The visitors on Sunday beat Norwich City 2-0 last weekend to stem the tide of five successive defeats.
  • Steve Kean’s men have conceded 16 goals from headers this season - a division high.
  • Despite Harry Redknapp’s insistence that it is coincidence, the Lilywhites have only won twice since Fabio Capello stood down as England manager.
  • Paul Robinson, a former Tottenham goalkeeper and once considered the undisputed No.1 for England, has only saved 56 percent of shots that he has faced this season.
  • Spurs have a good record against Rovers on home soil: the north London club has only lost once in its last eight encounters at White Hart Lane.
