Player Ratings: Everton 4-0 Fulham

A sublime performance from the Toffees saw Nikica Jelavic in superb form, netting twice, with Marouanne Fellaini carrying on his stunning display from Old Trafford

    Tim Howard

Made a terrific save just a few minutes before his team’s second of the afternoon; stopping Frei’s close-range effort in style. Replicated this from a deflected Dempsey shot that the American was forced to tip sensationally onto his bar. The American had next to nothing to stop in the second half.

The veteran made his experience count with some terrific challenges to keep Fulham far from the Everton goal.

The Dutchman took advantage of having Neville just ahead and, whilst also sticking to his defensive duties, took it upon himself to venture up the pitch on occasion.

Had little to do in the opening half, but intervened when required and completed a solid display.

Standing in for Baines at left back again, the defender did well to suppress Duff and got forward when on the break with his teammates.

Only featured in the first 45 minutes, but did a good job in the middle with Neville.

Holding the midfield just ahead of the back four, the former Manchester United man was solid in the hole and constantly stopped Fulham’s advances and also did well to fill the void of any center back who traveled up the pitch to join the attack.

  • Leon Osman

    Leon Osman

The midfielder was a very active member of the Everton set-up and made sure the Toffees’ attacks flowed through down the wings. Could have added Everton’s fifth late on, but Schwarzer saved well.

  • Steven Pienaar

    Steven Pienaar

The South African will have teased David Moyes further in wanting to secure his services permanently once more. The on-loan midfielder did superbly on the left to give Everton a solid attacking unit and his linkup play with Cahill for the fourth was sublime.

  • Marouane Fellaini

    Marouane Fellaini

The Belgian looked to be carrying off where he left off at Old Trafford and was instantly lively. Grabbed Everton’s second with an easy, but well taken header that crept in at Schwarzer’s near-post. Finished his afternoon strongly, getting Everton moving for their fourth, before being replaced.

Nikica Jelavic Top of the Match

Was on the scoreboard inside of 10 minutes after Pogrebnyak’s handball from the striker’s free kick led to an early penalty, the Everton man standing up to the spot kick to slot it easily past Schwarzer. The Croatian grabbed his 100th career goal in style and Everton’s third, rounding Schwarzer before cutting back in near the by-line and passing the ball between the Australian’s legs and past Hughes on the line. Should have had a hat trick if it wasn’t for the woodwork in the first half.

Came on after halftime and scored with less than 15 minutes on the pitch, linking up with Pienaar, with the Australian getting his toe on the ball at full stretch to get Everton’s fourth.

Mark Schwarzer Flop of the Match

The Australian’s first piece of action came as a result of Everton’s early penalty and was sent the wrong way by Jelavic. Didn’t react to Fellaini’s header that doubled Everton’s lead, but wasn’t helped by Duff’s hopeless effort to clear the Belgian’s header. Made an abject effort to stop Jelavic getting his second, the striker eventually nut-megging the ‘keeper for Everton’s third. Was equally ineffective in stopping Cahill’s effort that secure the points for Everton. Did, however, stop Pienaar’s late effort well.

The fullback had a tough game and was a big culprit for Jelavic’s second of the day, allowing the Croatian’s shot to get past him at the front post.

  • Philippe Senderos

The striker influenced the game in the early moments, but for the wrong reasons, the Russian striker handballing Jelavic’s free kick in the area and the Everton striker was able to convert the subsequent penalty. Did nothing all game to threaten Howard’s goal and was eventually subbed.
