  The Liverpool captain marked his 400th Premier League appearance with a deadly derby hat trick. Superb finish to stroke the ball home for the opener from the edge of the box for the opener, emphatically smashed home the second after the break and capped the victory in added time. Another inspirational performance on a big night at Anfield.

  The Uruguayan's finishing was poor - highlighted by a woeful effort in the second half - but his all-around play was integral to Liverpool's victory. Wonderful skill in the penalty area to create Gerrard's second and third goals.

  Chosen to start alongside and won some dangerous headers, including one in the first half to set up a chance for Suarez. Lacked mobility and his touch was often poor when in dangerous positions. Fired narrowly wide when presented with the chance to put the Reds 3-0 up and important defensively at set pieces.
