Player Ratings: Norwich City 3-1 Swansea City

Paul Lambert's men managed a relatively comfortable victory over their fellow Premier League new boys with Anthony Pilkington grabbing a brace at Carrow Road

Had very little to do in the first half and didn’t stand much of a chance with Graham’s goal as it appeared to take a slight deflection, while he had even less to do after the break. Very easy afternoon for the goalkeeper.

    Leon Barnett

Did little wrong at the back for Norwich as he and Martin dominated Graham. Given very little to worry about, particularly in the second half when Swansea barely registered an attack.

  • Russell Martin

    Russell Martin

Did very well to rise above his marker for Norwich’s second, but will probably feel as though he could have got closer to Graham when the striker peeled away from the Canaries defense for the goal that got the visitors back into the match.

  • Marc Tierney

    Marc Tierney

The only player to start all of Norwich’s league matches so far this term and he once again showed why he is so important to manager Paul Lambert. Always looked to support his attackers, but was rarely caught out in defense. All round solid performance from the former Colchester man.

  • Kyle Naughton

    Kyle Naughton

Beaten all ends-up by Sinclair for Graham’s goal, but aside from that, coped well against the England Under-21 international. The Tottenham-loanee’s passing was perhaps slight sloppy at times, but that shouldn’t distract from a solid display.

  • Bradley Johnson

    Bradley Johnson

The former Leeds man has been the subject of reported England call-up rumors, but the midfielder did little to enhance in burgeoning reputation this afternoon with a quite lethargic performance. Was sloppy in possession, but did claim an assist with a clever header to Pilkington for the winger’s second.

Played in a brilliant cross from the free-kick on the left wing for Norwich’s second. Other than that, had an unspectacular afternoon, but helped Norwich win the midfield battle.

  • Wesley Hoolahan

    Wesley Hoolahan

Had a fairly quiet match in truth, particularly in the first half, similarly to his midfield colleagues, but improved after the break as he looked to attack more often. Replaced by Crofts with 10 minutes to go.

Anthony Pilkington Top of the Match

Nothing went right for him at Old Trafford two weeks ago as luck just wouldn’t go his way in front of goal, but typically it took him less than two minutes to eradicate that form, smashing home from close range. Minutes later did very well to win a free-kick from which Martin scored with a header before grabbing his second of the day in the second half as he planted himself right in front of Vorm. Tormented Rangel and Dyer all afternoon. Very good display.

  • Elliott Bennett

    Elliott Bennett

Very good outlet on the right wing as his first cross of the match eventually lead to the opening goal as he picked out Morison at the far post. Also did well tracking back, although his effort to dispossess Sinclair in the build-up to Swansea’s goal was a bit half-hearted.

  • Steve Morison

    Steve Morison

Such a threat in the air with his aerial and physical presence as he set-up Pilkington for the opener with a clever header at the back post. Continued to torment Monk and Williams in the Swansea defense before eventually going off injured. Was given a thunderous ovation as we walked off, and quite rightly so after yet another impressive display.

On for Hoolahan with ten minutes to go, but didn’t have enough time to really do anything.

    Grant Holt

Came on for the impressive Morison just after Norwich’s third goal. Had one opportunity from outside the box, but Vorm saved. Had the beating of Williams in the short time he was on the field.

  • Michel Vorm

    Michel Vorm

Couldn’t have done anything about any of the goals, but did pull of a good save from Morison midway through the first half. Produced another good save from Holt in the last 20 minutes.

    Ashley Williams

Couldn’t get to grips with the powerful and physical Morison. Didn’t make any obvious mistakes, but was just generally poor at clearing his lines.

  • Neil Taylor

    Neil Taylor

Acted as an effective foil for Sinclair when attacking, also looked a threat himself, but will be disappointed by his role in the opening goal of the match where Bennett beat him too easily. Replaced by Richards with quarter of an hour to go.

  • Ángel Rangel

    Ángel Rangel

Given a tough time by the lively Pilkington, fouling him on several occasions. Failed to deal with him well all afternoon whilst he also couldn’t get forward, something he does very often usually.

  • Joe Allen

    Joe Allen

Quiet for large parts of the match, but burst into life a couple of times, showcasing some brilliant ball-control and dribbling ability. Along with the rest of the Swansea midfield, he failed to get a grip on the match

  • Leon Britton

    Leon Britton

Very quiet in the first half, having little-to-no influence on the match. Was a bit more prominent after the break before going cold once again. Offered little in the middle of the park as Norwich controlled much of the game.

  • Nathan Dyer

    Nathan Dyer

Looked lively early on, but petered out as the match wore on and was eventually replaced by Leroy Lita.

Wayne Routledge Flop of the Match

Anonymous 60 minutes from the former Spurs man. Struggled to have any influence on the match from his central position behind Graham. Replaced on the hour mark by Dobbie.

  • Scott Sinclair
    1
    0
    3.00

    Scott Sinclair

Swansea’s most potent weapon without any shadow of doubt. Single-handedly beat both Naughton and Bennett in the build-up to Graham’s goal and did brilliantly to find the striker from his awkward position on the floor. Had a very frustrating time up against Naughton however as the right back kept the winger quiet after the break.

  • Danny Graham

    Danny Graham

Did well to lose his markers for his goal as he just peeled back from the center backs as they were drawn to Sinclair and then produced a good finish. After that, the striker barely had a sniff.

    Leroy Lita

Came on for the frustrated Dyer with just over 20 minutes to go. The only contribution to the afternoon the former Reading man had was incurring the wrath of the Norwich fans who taunted him for apparently making the wrong decision of joining the Swans ahead of the Canaries.

  • Stephen Dobbie

On the pitch for the last half an hour, but did little.
