Just a clinic being put on today by Sir Alex's men. The Arsenal academy team, which is honestly more or less what this team is, would do well to take notes.
81′
Rooney finishes off his hat trick from the spot.
81′
And a penalty is given. Evra cutting inside of Walcott.
78′
Rooney doesn't hit this one.
77′
Yellow/Red Carl Jenkinson
77′
And now Arsenal is down to 10 men. Second yellow for a foul on Chicharito. And the Gunners once again lose a player. Haven't finished a game with 11 yet.
75′
Assist Carl Jenkinson
75′
Goal Robin van Persie
74′
RVP pulls one back. It's like the defending is just gone from the game.
71′
With the game over, it's time to make a simple comment. Arsenal can't get caught holding the bag of cash. Not much time left to spend the Fabregas and Nasri money, but right now it looks like a must.
70′
Assist Ashley Young

Goal Ji-Sung Park

6-1. Park with the goal.

Bad day to be an Arsenal fan. Rooney just hit the post.

Another big swing in the match. Three goals to make up again. It seemed to be on the way, but Rooney's shot was pure class.

WOW!! ROONEY AGAIN!! Another free kick goal for United. It's 4-1. Curled sweetly into the back post.
63′
Yellow Card Johan Djourou
63′
Exciting for Arsenal fans. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is on the pitch. Good young talent. How will he cope with the EPL?
62′
Substitution
Francis Coquelin
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Nani is having his way with Traore, and in truth United should have scored again by now.Another chance for Nani, one for Hernandez and Young as well.
59′
Cleverly and Hernandez just worked a lovely chance for United, Cleverly's finish wasn't what it needed to be, but a great exchange at the top of the box to set the table.
56′
Arshavin got in behind there, another good chance for Arsenal but he pulled it wide of the goal. For all of United's dominance in the first half, there is still plenty of time for the Gunners to climb back in, and they're making chances.
53′
It's not over yet. RVP just forced a good save out of de Gea, but Arsenal still showing how dangerous it can be.
52′
Nani to Rooney, Rooney tries to pick out Hernandez on the back post, cut out well by Arsenal but a corner for United has to be dealt with as well.
49′
Young takes a little knock, doesn't look too bad. And now it's Nani breaking down the right tries to chip the keeper from a tough angle rather than throwing it back across goal.
48′
Arsenal trying to get forward early, not a bad ball or idea to slip in behind, but again United goes down to the other end and Young gets a couple of shots off.
46′
Back under way. Arsenal will need something special to pull back into this match.
45′ +3
Assist Tomas Rosicky
45′ +3
Goal Theo Walcott
45′ +3
But wait!!!! Arsenal has pulled one back. Walcott gets in behind and suddenly it's 3-1. De Gea should have done better. Just as it looked like United would run away and hide, Walcott sends a shimmer of hope back in as the match goes to the half.
45′ +2
Gunners can't get anything to fall their way right now, and if they aren't careful, this could get well out of hand.
45′ +1
Terrible first half from the Arsenal perspective. Great one if you're a United fan. Should have been 1-1, went to 2-0 instead, Rooney made it three.
44′
Chicharito trying to sneak in behind there. Another corner won for United. Arsenal gets it clear.
42′
Assist Ashley Young
42′
Goal Wayne Rooney
41′
And Rooney makes it 3-0. Great shot from the free kick, top corner. There looks to be no way back for the Gunners from here.
40′
Nani sends it up and over the bar.
40′
And another free kick coming, this time Young getting in behind. Just constant action.
40′
Yellow Card Carl Jenkinson
39′
And with that said Arsenal gives up a free kick in a dangerous spot.
38′
Finally a few moments without goalmouth action. Took almost an entire half before there was even a moment to take a breath.
36′
Substitution
Danny Welbeck
Chicharito
35′
Looks like we'll get to see a lot of Chicharito now. Coming on earlier than expected.
34′
Just a crazy game so far. End result is United being up 2-0 just over half an hour in. But the scoreline doesn't give you the full story. And now even more drama. Welbeck just pulled up with what looks like a hamstring.
31′
And Welbeck with the diving header just wide down at the other end. Good ball in from Rooney.
30′
What a disappointment for the Gunners. It looks like the match is about to 1-1, then a penalty miss, then Young scores, and now back to back shots are pushed away.
28′
Goal Ashley Young
28′
Could it get worse for the Gunners? A penalty miss and now Ashley Young has made it 2-0 to United. Good cut in from the left, and he puts it perfectly into the back post.
27′
Penalty save David de Gea
27′
Missed Penalty Robin van Persie
27′
AND IT"S SAVED!!! De Gea gets down to keep RVP out from the spot. WOW. What a letdown for Arsenal.
26′
Yellow Card Ashley Young
26′
Yellow Card Jonny Evans
26′
What have we got here????? Has Web given a penalty to Arsenal??... He has.. It's a penalty for the Gunner. Walcott pulled down by Evans.
24′
United not done yet. Rooney finds Smalling breaking down the right and he does well to work the space but the shot isn't good enough. Anybody but Smalling and it might have been 2-0.
22′
Assist Anderson
22′
Goal Danny Welbeck
22′
Evra back the other way, ball comes square into the box and is cleared by the Arsenal defense, but not well enough. Back out to Evra who again crosses, clearance again isn't strong... It falls to Anderson who plays a sneaky little chip in for WELBECK!!!!! GOAL!!! It's 1-0 United.
20′
Nani tries to break in behind but a really nice job from Traore to get back and kill off the danger. An immediately it's Walcott at the other end floating a cross to nobody.
18′
Arsenal with a corner of its own, header goes up and over the bar, but the Gunners aren't backing down a bit from United. Cleverly has some blood running down his face, head to head collision it looks like.
16′
Nani wins a corner with a little shimmy, a little shake, and then a cross that's blocked out of play. Arsenal breaks the other way after the corner is clear, RVP's cross floats through the box. Good match going on right now.
15′
Yellow Card Andrey Arshavin
15′
Arshavin picks up a yellow. Pretty nasty tackle. Jones ok.is limping away, but looks like he'll be
14′
United still pushing forward. Smalling wasted it at the end, but the attacking emphasis is really showing through from both teams. Not much wasted time on the ball.
11′
Walcott snatched at a shot from outside the box. Never even a bit of danger from it.
10′
Game is pretty wide open at the moment. United arguably getting the better of it. Arsenal's defense looks stretched, but at the same time the Gunners have had a couple of odd breaks as well. Welbeck again there, trying to find Young in the box, but it's cut out.
7′
Real chance there for United. Young plays Welbeck in, catching Arsenal trying to play a high line, but the youngster just pulled his shot wide of the mark.
5′
Early goings still. A real feeling-out process taking place. Both teams have had momentary bits of possession, but no real advantage yet.
2′
Big changes from what you would have thought the ideal lineups for these teams would be coming into the season. United's back line could be tested by Arsenal, but the truth as it stands right now is that Arsenal's three-man midfield will have its hands full. Lot of youth on the field both ways, but United's bench could probably content for a title, while Arsenal's looks thin at the moment.
1′
Off and running.
Big match today in the EPL. Manchester United at home to Arsenal. Neither side comes in at full strength, but Sir Alex's men have certainly dealt with it better than the Gunners. Still, this will not be a given for United. Arsenal still have plenty of talent on the pitch and can certainly give problems to any team, and United's thrashing of Spurs doesn't look as impressive after what Manchester City did to Tottenham earlier today, a 5-1 win for those of you who missed it. Arsenal is coming off a big Champions League win as well, which should lead to the squad having a bit of confidence.
