Zenit St Petersburg have made it two wins out of two in the Russian Premier League this season after defeating Anzhi Makhachkala 2-0 at the Petrovski Stadium on Monday evening that also sees them bounce back from last week’s exit from the Europa League.
Roman Shirokov broke the deadlock for Luciano Spalletti’s side as early as the fourth minute and then on the stroke of half-time Danko Lazovic found the target to put his team 2-0 to the good.
The victory means that the defending Russian champions have now collected six points out of six from their opening two matches in the league and are level on points with Rubin Kazan at the top of the table.Follow Goal.com on to get the latest soccer news directly.
