  • 90' + 4'
The ball bobbles loose and RSL clears and counters. Will Johnson gets a shot off on the break, but it goes wide and that's that. RSL wins 1-0 in an action-packed game. The Earthquakes will certainly be ruing their missed chances on this one, as they created for more than RSL did.
  • 90' + 3'
Free kick on the right side, 35 yards out. This is the last stand for the Earthquakes...
  • 90'
Three minutes of added time here at Buck Shaw.
  • 89'
San Jose ramping up the pressure now, playing entirely within the opposition half. Anywhere will do for the RSL clearances.
  • 84'
Final substitution of the match as another former Earthquakes man, Paulo Jr., replaces Alvaro Saborio for RSL.
  • 83'
    SubstitutionA. Saborío Paulo Jr.
  • 82'
Rimando nearly fumbles a shot from distance as the Earthquakes once again start to turn up the pressure. An exciting finish in store!
  • 81'
    SubstitutionKhari Stephenson Anthony Ampaipitakwong
  • 81'
...and here's Anthony Ampaipitakwong on, the third and final Earthquakes substitute to make his MLS debut tonight. Khari Stephenson makes way.
  • 80'
McLoughlin bursts through on the left flank, but his shot was always rising from just outside the area.
  • 77'
    SubstitutionNed Grabavoy Jean Alexandre
  • 77'
Second sub of the game for Jason Kreis and RSL as Jean Alexandre replaces Ned Grabavoy.
  • 73'
The Earthquakes are really ramping it up after a period of sustained RSL pressure, but so far haven't been able to find the net. Dawkins has looked simultaneously electrifying and a bit headstrong with his touches so far.
  • 71'
    SubstitutionJoey Gjertsen Ellis McLoughlin
  • 71'
Former Hertha BSC man Ellis McLoughlin enters the game for Joey Gjertsen as Frank Yallop makes his second substitution.
  • 71'
Two huge saves by Rimando! Dawkins with some great touches to get into the area and set up Wondo, but Rimando is equal to the first shot. Shortly there after Stephenson lines up a fierce shot, but again it is saved well.
  • 66'
    SubstitutionRamiro Corrales Simon Dawkins
  • 66'
...and here's the first sub for San Jose. Ramiro Corrales picked up a knock on the previous play and is replaced by new signing Simon Dawkins, who just arrived from England late this week. Definitely a more attacking shape for San Jose now.
  • 65'
    SubstitutionFabian Espindola A. Álvarez
  • 65'
First substitution of the match, and it is for RSL as former Earthquakes man Arturo Alvarez enters for Espindola.
  • 64'
    Goal Kyle Beckerman
  • 63'
GOAL RSL!!! Beckerman finds himself with plenty of space on the edge of the area and sends one skipping across the grass. It clangs in off the far post and RSL has their goal!
  • 62'
Fantastic save Jon Busch! Clever ball in for Grabavoy who goes clear on goal, but Busch turns the chance behind. Takes a few minutes for the veteran keeper to get up after that rocket.
  • 61'
    Yellow Card Fabian Espindola
  • 60'
Yellow card to Fabian Espindola for booting the ball out of touch well after being called for offside.
  • 60'
The weather is steadily worsening here at Buck Shaw as the rain continues to pour.
  • 58'
Real Salt Lake controlled most of the first 10 or so minutes, this half, but the Earthquakes are slowly working their way back in. It's anyone's game right now.
  • 46'
Almost immediately, Khari Stephenson sees yellow for a late challenge. Third yellow of the evening, all for San Jose.
  • 46'
Second half is underway here at Buck Shaw! No changes for either side.
  • Halftime here at Buck Shaw. No score so far, Earthquakes controlled first 20 and last five minutes of the half and RSL the time in between. Wondolowski (x2) and Johnson have missed good chances for the Earthquakes, while RSL has so far lacked creativity and hasn't created much trouble in the Earthquakes' area.
  • 45'
    Yellow Card Khari Stephenson
  • 45'
Wondolowski finds a few yards of space but can't get his shot quite right. rain is getting heavier, wind still fairly strong. Players on both sides slipping and sliding with regularity.
  • 38'
Solid cross in from Corrales, but a tightly-marked Wondolowski can't quite make the proper connection and the header bounces harmlessly wide.
  • 36'
    Yellow Card Chris Leitch
  • 36'
Yellow card to Chris Leitch, apparently for placing the ball five yards ahead of where a free kick was supposed to be taken. Technically a booking for impeding the restart of the game, but you barely ever see that called.
  • 34'
The pendulum has swung back in the direction of RSL as they start to do a better job of controlling possession. Still, no real breakthroughs for the visiting side.
  • 30'
Dangerous situation as a miscommunication between Stephenson and McDonald sees an RSL player, bounce. McDonald slips trying to defend, appears to stop the ball with his hand. Free kick 40 yards out given, but no cards.
  • 28'
A bad touch from Corrales lets Espindola and Wignert combine, but the latter's shot is deflected behind for the first corner of the match, to RSL.
  • 25'
About halfway through the first half and the Earthquakes have been dominant so far, playing very up-tempo and not letting RSL get settled. Nothing to show for it though as San Jose has spurned about three good chances. Still, RSL look dangerous on the break.
  • 23'
Beckerman fires over from outside the area, about six inches too high, but probably the best chance Salt Lake has had so far.
  • 21'
Another close chance for the Earthquakes! Leitch swings a beautiful looking cross in with Wondolowski right in front of goal, but it seems that it just caught him by surprise as Wondo fails to connect.
  • 13'
Another great chance for San Jose! Ryan Johnson somehow wriggles his way around Nat Borchers and finds himself facing just Nick Rimando, but he can't corral the ball and Rimando eventually comes up with it.
  • 10'
The conditions are certainly making things interesting, ball's moving quickly, players are slipping and sliding. Decent, but by no means great turnout considering the weather.
  • 6'
    Yellow Card Sam Cronin
  • 6'
First yellow card of the match goes to San Jose's Sam Cronin for a hard challenge on Chris Wingert.
  • 2'
First chance to San Jose! An intricately worked move sees Johnson play Wondolowski clean through, but he snatches at the chance a bit and sends a tame shot right into the arms of Rimando.
  • 1'
Frantic stuff right from the get-go, players slipping, ball going all over the place.
  • 1'
We are underway at Buck Shaw!
  • Teams their way out onto the field. Ladies and gents, it's time for MLS in San Jose!
  • For Real Salt Lake: Rimando, Wingert, Borchers, Schuler, Beltran; Grabavoy, Beckerman, Morales, Johnson; Espindola, Saborio. Bench: Reynish, Alexandre, Alvarez, Araujo Jr., Russell, Warner, Williams.
  • The lineups aren't displaying yet, so here they are: San Jose Earthquakes lineup: Busch; Leitch, Hernandez, McDonald, Corrales; Gjertsen, Cronin, Stephenson, Convey; Johnson, Wondolowski. Bench: Weber, Ampaipitakwong, Burling, Dawkins, McLoughlin, Opara, Ring.
  • The lineups are out! No real surprises, but a number of new faces on the Earthquakes' bench, including Anthony Ampaipitakwong, Ellis McLoughlin and new loan signing Simon Dawkins, who just arrived in the country yesterday. Former Earthquake Arturo Alvarez is on the bench for Salt Lake. With Jamison Olave out, Chris Schuler gets the start alongside Nat Borchers in the RSL defense.
  • Greetings from Buck Shaw Stadium! Nick Rosano with you here, bringing you live commentary for San Jose vs. Real Salt Lake. The weather is not a pretty sight right now - mid 40s, windy and raining, and not expected to get any better. There has been talk of lightning, but so far we haven't seen anything.
