Mexico helped Jose Manuel de la Torre to his first win as Mexican manager with a 2-0 victory against Bosnia at the Georgia Dome Wednesday night.

An own goal from Miralem Pjanic and a goal from Edgar Pacheco gave Mexico the win in the friendly.

First Half

Bosnia began the attack in the third minute but, Vedad Ibisevic sent the ball over the goal.

Mexico responded during a free kick in the fifth minute. Edgar Pacheco took a free kick and found Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez at the edge of the box. ‘Chicharito’ received the ball, but his shot was off target and flew past the side of the goal.

Zvjezdan Misimovic took up the attack for Bosnia in the ninth minute. Misimovic’s first shot was cleared by Francisco ‘Maza’ Rodriguez. The ball found its way into Bosnian possession and Corona saved on the follow up.

Misimovic tried to make an impact on Corona’s goal in the 12th minute. The Bosnian player took a shot, but Corona stretched to block and then save.

Pacheco launched a counterattack in the 15th minute after a Bosnia corner. The Atlas player found Giovani Dos Santos and he tried to chip it over Kenan Hasagic, but the goalkeeper managed to get a hand on it.

Bosnia briefly opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a ball down the middle from Ibisevic, but it was called offside.

Pacheco attempted a cross in the 23rd minute that flew close to the goal, but Hasagic managed to palm away the ball.

Again, ‘Chicharito’ could have opened the scoring for Mexico in added time of the first half. Dos Santos made a run down the left flank and sent the ball in to Chicharito in front of goal. The Manchester United player missed the opportunity to push the ball for the goal.

Second Half

‘Chicharito’ drew a penalty in the opening moments of the second half. Emir Spahic put a hand across ‘Chicharito’s’ face, the Mexican player went down and the referee pointed to the spot. He stepped up to take the penalty and shot with his right foot straight at the goal. Hasagic saved, but on the rebound the ball rolled across the line in a scuffle. Miralem Pjanic received credit for an own goal.

Bosnia tried to respond in the 50th minute with a shot from Sejad Salihovic, but Corona made the solid save.

Ibisevic came close to equalizing for Bosnia, but his header hit the woodwork in the 54th minute. Corona saved the follow up.

Pacheco added a second goal for Mexico in the 55th minute. Corona sent the ball out with a goal kick and the Bosnian defense had trouble controlling the ball. Pacheco had made his way up the field and stole the ball. Hasagic was out of his goal and Pacheco sent the shot into the back of an empty net for the 2-0 advantage.

Paul Aguilar tried to send in a long shot, but Hasagic easily held on to it in the 70th minute.

In the final minutes of the game Bosnia’s Zlatan Muslimovic attempted a shot but the ball traveled wide of goal.
