    Wojciech Szczesny

Did not have a save to make as his side dominated from the first whistle to the last. Claimed two or three high crosses easily and cut out a through ball outside the box with his head in the first half. His easiest game so far for the Gunners.

  • Bacary Sagna

    Bacary Sagna

Easy day at the office for the French full-back. Played as right winger for most of the game and produced one stunning cross to Samir Nasri in the first-half. Not given enough to do by Wigan in defense.

  • Laurent Koscielny

    Laurent Koscielny

Another player who probably enjoyed the easiest afternoon he has had in an Arsenal shirt. Not posed any threat by Wigan going forward and his passing and control of the ball were efficient and crisp.

  • Johan Djourou

    Johan Djourou

Quiet afternoon for the Swiss international but he stayed alert for the whole 90 minutes despite not having too much defending to do. Dealt with the second-half aerial threat of Di Santo well.

  • Gael Clichy

    Gael Clichy

Had to be on his guard for when Wigan got the ball to Charles N'Zogbia but coped well with his opposite winger. Got forward at every opportunity to give the home side an extra man in attack.

  • Alexandre Song

    Alexandre Song

Sound display from the Cameroon international. Shielded the defense well and when required went forward with ease. Produced the killer pass to set up Van Persie's opener.

  • Jack Wilshere

    Jack Wilshere

Neat and tidy display from the England midfielder. His passing was crisp and he was always willing to take the ball from team-mates. Dictated the play from deep for Arsene Wenger's side.

  • Theo Walcott
    57

    3.50

    Theo Walcott

Terrorised Maynor Figueroa with his pace and was played in behind the full-back at every opportunity. Also had the ability to beat the full-back and played in some decent crosses which his team-mates failed to capitalize on. Still made some poor decisions in the final third, the main one being not shooting when through against Al Habsi.

  • Cesc Fàbregas

    Cesc Fàbregas

All action display from the Arsenal captain. Found space all afternoon, threading balls through to Nasri, Walcott and Van Persie. Should have scored on more than one occasion but was denied by the superb Al Habsi. Set up Van Persie's second with a pin-point accurate long ball over the head of Gary Caldwell. Linked up well with Van Persie all afternoon and this axis could be vital for the Gunners if they are to end their trophy drought.

  • Samir Nasri

    Samir Nasri

Popped up everywhere for the Gunners and was a threat around the edge of the box with his powerful shooting and deft passing. Denied early by the feet of Al Habsi. Replaced by Arshavin with 15 minutes to go.

  • Robin van Persie

Robin van Persie Top of the Match

Produced three clinical finishes to give his side the points and grabbed himself the match ball. He could have had a fourth but skied a penalty high over the bar. Held the ball up well for the Gunners and brought his team-mates into play around him. The Dutch striker is back to his best form.

    Ali Al Habsi

Made superb save after superb save as he single handedly prevented Arsenal racking up the goals. Showed sharp reflexes in denying a host of Arsenal strikes from close range. Stopped the scoreline turning into a cricket score. Could do nothing to stop any of Van Persie's strikes.

  • Steve Gohouri

    Steve Gohouri

Had a busy afternoon dealing with Samir Nasri and he came off second best to the in-form Frenchman. Was turned far to easily on too many occasions.

  • Gary Caldwell

    2.50

Gary Caldwell Flop of the Match

Produced a stunning block to deny Arsenal captain Fabregas in the first-half but that is about as good as it got for the Wigan skipper as he lost Van Persie for Arsenal's second and then was given a straight red card for bringing down Cesc Fabregas in the penalty area.

  • Steven Caldwell

    Steven Caldwell

Another Wigan defender who had a busy afternoon as Arsenal threw wave after wave of attacks at the Wigan goal.

  • Maynor Figueroa

    6
    2.50

    Maynor Figueroa

Given a torrid time by Theo Walcott's pace and also played Robin van Persie onside for the Gunner's opener. An afternoon to forget for the full-back.

  • Mohamed Diame

    10
    2.50

    Mohamed Diame

Another player replaced at half-time by Martinez. Bamboozled by Arsenal's passing and movement in the opening period and could do nothing to halt the dominance of the home side.

  • H. Thomas

    3.50

    H. Thomas

Never gave up and closed down Arsenal players right until the final whistle. Showed some neat touches and played some adventurous passes but was fighting a losing battle in the middle of the park.

  • Charles N'Zogbia

    8
    3.00

    Charles N'Zogbia

Provided Wigan's only threat when they could get him on the ball. The handful of times he got the ball he caused Clichy problems down the Arsenal left and was unlucky not get a foul awarded after being brought down right on the edge of the penalty area. It was touch and go as to whether it was in the area.

  • Ben Watson

    3.00

    Ben Watson

Tracked Arsenal runners as best he could but there is only so much one man can do. Hardly got on the ball as he was another player lost in the midst of Arsenal's superiority.

  • Ronnie Stam

    5
    2.50

    Ronnie Stam

Replaced by manager Roberto Martinez at half-time as Wigan searched for a foothold in the game. Chased shadows for nearly all the time he was on the pitch and spent more time defending as his side were under the pump.

  • Hugo Rodallega
    2
    8
    2.50

    Hugo Rodallega

Cut a loan figure up front for the Latics and hardly had a kick all day. He was starved of service as his side played second fiddle to the Gunners all over the field.

  • Franco Di Santo

    Franco Di Santo

Also brought on at half-time to give Hugo Rodallega some support, but the striker, who has just returned from injury did not trouble the Arsenal defense.
