Palermo managed to bounce back in style from their defeat against Napoli with a comeback win over Parma at the Renzo Barbera. Alessandro Lucarelli opened the scoring with a header in the first half, but the Rosanero fought back after the break with a ten-minute double salvo by substitute Mauricio Pinilla and captain Fabrizio Miccoli and an own goal by Cristian Zaccardo to earn the three crucial points in their battle for European places.

Both teams started sharply with most of the action commencing in front of both goals. Still, the Gialloblu proved to be more ruthless in the final third in the 7th minute when Lucarelli capitalized on a mistake by Federico Balzaretti and Cesare Bovo to head home a cross by Sebastian Giovinco.

Parma continued to be the better team in the next team minutes with Antonio Candreva, Hernan Crespo and Giovinco all threatening to double the Gialloblu's lead. Nicola Rigoni tried his luck with a header in the 19th minute for Palermo, but missed high of the bar.

Miccoli demanded a penalty kick around the half hour mark, but the referee was having none of it as the hosts were slowly staring to pick up momentum. The ex-Juventus man almost stole the show in the 31st minute with an overhead kick, but his shot narrowly missed the target. Still, Parma looked like the better team and deservedly entered half-time with a tender lead.

The restart saw Pinilla replace the struggling Javier Pastore for Palermo and the substitute made an instant impact in the 51st minute as he put the finishing touch to a breathtaking move by Dorin Goian, Antonio Nocerino and Josip Illicic to draw the game level from close range.

The Rosanero's surge did not stop there and it was the Chilean striker again who was at the center of the action again as he teed up the ball for Miccoli, who neutralized Antonio Mirante with a precise finish from just outside the box to give Palermo the lead in the 61st minute.

Parma tried to mount a comeback of their own in the remaining minutes of the game and were denied a goal on two occasions by the brilliant Salvatore Sirigu between the 75th and the 77th minute. Zaccardo, however, put the game to bed for Palermo with an own goal under pressure by substitute Pajtim Kasami a minute before the final whistle.

Following tonight's result, the Rosanero are fifth in the standings with 26 points, while Parma are sixth from bottom. Palermo's next league game is a visit to struggling Bari in eight days, while the Gialloblu host Bologna on the same day.
