Goal.com rates the performances of the players involved in tonight's exciting clash.
By Vasil Kotsev
Stood absolutely no chance against Gilardino's superb finish and D'Agostino free-kick. Solid throughout the ninety minutes.
Showed some very good touches going forward and was very stable at the back. His crossing was very good as Cassetti has valid reasons to be feared about his first-team place.
Very stable tonight as he rarely put a foot wrong all game. He was strong in the air and showed great tackling, too. His wonderful assist sums up his evening.
Made a wonderful block to deny Gilardino in the first half, but mostly struggled against the striker. Was a little short on pace all night and at fault for Fiorentina's first. Had some troubles with Ljajic as well.
The ex-Liverpool man was very quiet tonight in an attacking sense and was mostly untroubled until Ljaljc came on. Had some troubles with the youngster and was partially at fault for Fiorentina's first.
Looked somewhat lost in midfield tonight as he roamed aimlessly at times. Had a couple of few good shots on goal and played some good passes, but nothing spectacular.
A quiet, yet efficient performance from the midfielder. Bossed the midfield together with Simplicio.
Made up for his miss minutes before his goal with a good finish. Ran tirelessly and rarely lost possession. A good performance from the ex-Palermo man.
A constant thorn in the Viola's defence. Fiorentina just had no answer to his blistering runs tonight. His assist for Marco Borriello's goal in particular was a highlight.
After a relatively quiet first half, he exploded after the break to finish the game on a high note. He might not be in top physical shape nowadays, but he still has it in terms of passing and vision.
A little wasteful at times, particularly in the second half, but was well positioned to score from a tap-in. His off-the-ball play was of high quality tonight.
Came on for Leandro Greco in the 74th minute and looked very tidy in midfield for the remaining minutes of the game.
Scored a good, somewhat lucky goal that proved crucial in the end as he put in a strong cameo after coming on for Menez.
An absolute howler for the third goal, but otherwise solid tonight. Pulled off some good save to keep Roma from scoring more.
Had some troubles with Borriello in the first half, but had almost nothing to do after the break. Failed to offer much in attack.
Very poor performance by the ex-Torino man, especially after the break. Was poorly positioned most of the time and was occasionally bypassed by Menez. Partially at fault for the first goal.
His marking was below par as he struggled to contain Borriello all game. Nowhere to be seen for the second goal and looked short of pace for most of the game.
Probably Pasqual's worst game of his career. At fault for all three goals as he was caught out of position quite a few times and on top of that did not offer anything in attack.
Was left to fight a desperate battle as he was partnered with a winger in central midfield. Tried hard, but was bullied out of the game by De Rossi and Simplicio.
Played out of position and it showed. Stood no chance against Simplicio and De Rossi in the middle of the pitch and could not create from the back.
The ex-Juventus man had a very anonymous game tonight. One could hardly tell he was on the pitch after the twenty-minute mark.
Looked very clumsy while on possession and failed to put away the only real chance he was presented with today. Seems short of pace nowadays.
One could hardly tell if he touched the ball at all tonight. An uncharacteristically quiet performance by the Peruvian winger.
Viola's best player tonight hands down. Very active in the box, confident in possession and always willing to fight. Scored with a superb deft touch to add to his delightful backheel that set-up Mutu for Fiorentina's best chance of the first half.
Made instant impact after coming on as he provided the pass fro Gilardino's goal.
Scored a fabulous free-kick against his former club to give the game a dramatic ending.
