Serie A Preview: Milan - Lecce
The Rossoneri's Scudetto march starts here while the visitors have to battle hard for points.
By Subhankar Mondal
Mixed Summer But One Target
Given their squad strength, Italian giants Milan did reasonably well last season as they finished third in Serie A and also reached the second round of the Champions League. But at the end of the 2009-10 campaign Leonardo was removed from his coaching role and Massimiliano Allegri was appointed his replacement.
It's been a quiet summer for the Rossoneri, who have seen Mario Yepes, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Kevin-Prince Boateng arrive. However, talks are going on with Spanish champions Barcelona to sign striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and if he comes, then the 2004 Italian champions' hopes of a Scudetto triumph will certainly surge.
Starting the season against newly promoted Lecce is a nice way to boost the confidence and Allegri will hope that they seize the opportunity and get a few goals.
Survival On Their Mind
Lecce won the Serie B title last season and gained automatic promotion to the Italian top flight. They went down at the end of the 2008-09 campaign but after just a year in the Italian second division have bounced back.
However, for Luigi De Canio and his team, it is all about survival. The Lupi will certainly be the underdogs at the San Siro on Sunday and will hope to survive what could be an onslaught. The last time the two sides met in Milan was in 2009 and the Rossoneri won that game 2-1.

TEAM NEWS
Milan
Allegri has every player of his squad at his disposal against the visit of newly promoted Lecce. He is expected to continue to play Leonardo’s 4-3-3 system from last season.
Probable Lineup (4-3-3): Abbiati, Papasthathopoulos, Nesta, Thiago Silva, Antonini; Ambrosini, Pirlo, Seedorf; Pato, Borriello, Ronaldinho
Lecce
New signing Chevanton is unavailable while Olivera is serving a suspension.
Probable Lineup (4-4-1-1): Rosati, Vives, Gustavo, Ferrario, Brivio; Munari, Giacomazzi, Grossmuller, Mesbah; Piatti; Corvis
