Atlante beat Chivas 2-1 on Saturday night at the Andres Quintana Roo stadium during the fifth date of play of the Apertura 2010.
Goals from Nicolas Torres and Johan Fano gave Atlante the advantage and all three points for the night and their first win of the season.
First Half
The action started immediately after the starting whistle. Chivas were the first ones on the scoreboard with a goal from Omar Bravo just a few moments into the game. Adolfo ‘Bofo’ Bautista took control of a long ball and filtered to Bravo. The on-loan player then faced off against Moises Muñoz, who had come out of his goal, and pushed the ball into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.
Moments later Chivas were reduced to 10 men with the sending off of Edgar ‘Chore’ Mejia. The Chivas player received a straight red card for an harsh infraction.
Atlante soon equalized the game in the fourth minute. Nicolas Torres took advantage of a ball into the area, rose and left his defender to head the ball in to the Chivas net past goalkeeper Luis Michel.
Again, in the 11th minute Atlante had an opportunity. Jeronimo Amione shot with his right toward goal, but the ball ended going wide.
Chivas responded in the 13th minute. Marco Fabian tried a shot, but Muñoz punched the ball away.
Atlante doubled their goals in the 36th minute. From a set piece, Johan Fano left his mark and headed the ball past Michel for the lead.
Second Half
In the 57th minute Amione tried to add a third for Atlante. He had difficulty angling himself to shoot, and Michel controlled.
Near the end, Patricio ‘Pato’ Araujo tried to equalize for Chivas, but shot went high over goal and ended in the stands.
Chivas holds four points from three games; Atlante has the same amount from four games.
