The final whistle should go any minute. Hannover with a shocking win, a taking-apart really, of Bayern Munich. Great win for Cherundolo as the captain. These things don't happen often. The chase for a Champions League spot is well and truly on.
Substitution Lars Stindl Mario Eggimann
Bayern are lucky it's not 4-1. Hannover are putting the most dominant team in Germany's history to the sword.
Under ten minutes to go here and the story hasn't changed a bit. It's still Hannover on top 3-1 and Bayern falling in serious danger of missing a Champions League spot for next season.
Substitution Jan Schlaudraff Moritz Stoppelkamp
Yellow Card Sergio da Silva Pinto
Substitution Konstantin Rausch Sofian Chahed
Yellow Card Lars Stindl
Red Card Breno
Breno with a lashing out there after a little tussle near midfield. He's off!!!?? I guess it might have deserved a red, I thought both players were going at it. Might actually help Bayern. Addition by subtraction and all that. I wonder if Louis van Gaal has already been told that he's fired or if it'll wait until after the match? That's probably the end of story in this one with Hannover up two goals and one player.
Substitution Toni Kroos Miroslav Klose
Ribery has had an off night, which probably means Cherundolo has done a very nice job with him but you wouldn't know it aside from one or two instances.
Again Robben asking questions. That guy is scary good when he has his game clicking. Keeper made the save, but Bayern don't look like a team that has given up just yet.
Great hit from Robben there, could have been game on once again but the ball found the outside of the net.
Goal Sergio da Silva Pinto
And oh my goodness another great goal from Hannover. Sergio Pinto ghosts past a midfielder, finds himself with 40 yards of space down the middle of the pitch, gets to within 30 yards of goal and has a go. Great shot poor goal-tending= goal.
Here's another dangerous situation for Hannover to deal with . Looks like RObben will get to line up another freekick from a good spot.... Nope, it's Ribery and it's into the wall.
Yellow Card Mohammed Abdellaoue
Assist Franck Ribéry
Goal Arjen Robben
And Bayern pull one back. That certainly didn't take long. Ribery sets the table for Robben to head home into an open net. 2-1. What a start to the second half.
Assist Jan Schlaudraff
Goal Konstantin Rausch
WHAT A GOAL!!! Oh my goodness. Hannover play a corner short, and Rausch cuts to the top corner of the box, has a go left footed and gets a bit of help from a Mario Gomez deflection. But what a great hit and it's 2-0 to Hannover.
Substitution Holger Badstuber Andreas Ottl
Substitution Anatoliy Tymoshchuk Daniel Van Buyten
Back a few minutes in to the second half. Bayern look convinced early on that they can find a goal and they're pushing the pace. Could be dangerous as Hannover have looked very good on the counter today.
And there's the halftime whistle. Come back in a few to catch the second act of what is turning into a great match.
Frantic pace to the end of the half here. First, Gomez should have been given afoul just outside the Hannover area, and then Abdellaoue back at the other end blazed a shot just wide.
Just a few minutes left in the half. On the balance of play 1-0 to Hannover seems fair. They've had the batter of the chances at this point.
Yellow Card Toni Kroos
Seriously, there is no reason to wonder why Bayern aren't in their normal position atop the Bundesliga. It's their defense.. questions answered. Hannover are finding chances just about every tie they touch the ball down the right.
Little down spell in the action there for a minute, but Mueller and Gomez combined for a dangerous chance. Gomez' header sent Mueller in but his shot was well over the mark.
Cherundolo involved again, with Ribery darting in from the right on a diagonal run. The American pulled the Frenchman down, was lucky not to draw a card, and gave Robben a set piece from a good position. But Hannover came out of it clean, still up a goal.
Cherundolo forced into a clearance there. Robben is starting to look like he's ready to play and it caused some minor problems there.
What a shock here so far. It's Bayern with all the possession, but Hannover with all the chances on goal. Arjen Robben keeps going left, Ribery keeps going right, and Bayern look as lost today as they did last week against Dortmund.
Assist Konstantin Rausch
Goal Mohammed Abdellaoue
And there it is, the opener from Hannover!!!!! What a great break, Rausch to Abdellaoue, and the finish is perfect. Where was the Bayern defense? Lahm, Breno?
Wow, what a chance for Hannover to take the lead on the break. Great ball in from the right and the shot on the end of it is just pushed past the post.
Cherundolo and Ribery are at it again on the right. Ribery maybe got the better of that exchange but Cherundolo certainly doesn't look over-matched.
Mario Gomez and his hair just got caught offside, killing off another Bayern attack and on the next trip up the pitch he was called for a foul. Maybe the new hair wasn't such a good idea, though that would have seemed clear without the fouls.
Cherundolo is going to see a bunch of Franck Ribery in this match, but could also offer some trouble for the French winger storming forward down the right. So far it's been all Bayern but with no real chances for either side to score.
Welcome in, just underway between Hannover and Bayern Munich. Hannover are just above Bayern int he table and the Bavarians are looking to recover from a tough week. Steve Cherundolo is the player to keep and eye on from Hannover in our Americans Abroad watch.
