Did superbly with everything, but made a horrible mistake in injury time as he was late to position himself before Gabilondo's free-kick. It is debatable if this should could have been saved at all, but it was a mistake from the goalkeeper nonetheless.
His trademark runs on the left were on show yet again tonight and his crossing was neat. Combined nicely with Mata and also did well defensively, but had some troubles against Susaeta in the second half.
Sound defensively, although reckless at times. Did not offer much in attack.
Stable throughout the game. Llorente got the better of him in the air on some occasions, but he did well with everything else.
Valencia's best defender tonight, despite being rarely troubled. Superb in the tackle and well positioned, his addition to the squad might proved invaluable for Valencia.
He was impeccable in the first half, his passing in particular was a highlight. Could and should have received an assist, had it not been for Aduriz's poor finish in the 37th minute. Faded a little in the second half.
A superb performance from the winger. His darting runs were marvelous and he never stopped being a thorn in Athletic Bilbao's defense. Skinned Aurtenetxe on countless occasions and played a wonderful backheel in the build-up to Aduriz's goal. He seemed to hurry a bit too much with the ball at his feet, but this is something he will get better at, eventually.
Performances like this will see him quickly become a fan favorite. He was full of running tonight, his ball retaining abilities are marvelous and his passing was neat. Outshone Fernandes.
His usually good delivery from set-pieces was not on show today as he played second fiddle to the brilliant Topal. He did run a lot and tackled well, but conceded a needless free-kick just outside the box which led to Gabilondo's goal. Earned a yellow card for this foul as well.
Despite not scoring the goal, he seemed like the better striker tonight. His direct running and dribbling caused lots of trouble for Athletic Bilbao's defense and also got an assist. Substituted as his nerves were strained to the limit after a clash with Ocio.
Scored the goal, but wasted a lot of good chances with the ball at his feet. Should really work on his finish with his right foot and his first touch.
Faultless for both goals, although he could haven been better positioned for the first goal.
His block in injury time to deny Aduriz a brace was good, and he was generally sound defensively, but received little support from Orbaiz in the first half as Mata and Mathieu got the better of him on occasions. Did not offer anything in attack after the break.
The best of a very poor defense tonight. His only glaring mistake was to approach Dominguez for the second goal, thus leaving Vicente completely unmarked, and actually cost his side a draw in the end.
At least tried to put up a fight in the middle of the pitch, but had another poor game. Injured after a clash with Cesar.
Could have done more than just watching Hernandez go past him for the umpteenth time in the first half. Non-existent contribution in attack all night.
The striker delivered yet another disappointing performance. If he continues like this, he will probably be dropped from the starting line-up. His first touch was really poor, which resulted in many good passes being wasted. Substituted for Toquero in the second half.
He was anonymous in the first half, but stepped up his game after the break and, together with Susaeta, gave Mathieu something much to worry about.
An absolutely stunning free-kick to claw one back for the visitors in injury time. His side's best attacking player tonight.
Flop of the match. He was outclassed by Topal and Fernandes in the center of the pitch and did not lend any support to Iraola, who struggled to contain Mathieu and Mata on his own. Replaced at half-time.
Nowhere to be seen for Aduriz's opener and was occasionally skinned by Hernandez and Soldado in the first half.
Spent most of the time arguing with the referee. He was starved of delivery and his frustrations got the better of him on many occasions. Put in some good headers, though.

Came on for Juan Mata and popped up with a winner. Showed great composure to score the second goal and generally looked lively.
Great work for the second goal, drawing three defenders before teeing up the ball for Vicente. Performances like this will quickly see him break into the first team more frequently.
- 13 Raúl Fernández
- 19 Balenziaga
Inserted much needed pace and trickery in Athletic Bilbao's game and was their main source of creativity after coming on for Orbaiz at half-time.

Battled hard and showed commitment, but aside from a shot in the 83rd minute, he did very little in his short cameo.
Barely involved after replacing Javi Martinez, who was forced to come off with an injury.
