    Tim Howard

Was rarely challenged as his team overran Wigan. Looked sharp on the odd occasion that he was called into action, pulling off an absolutely stunning last-minute save from Ronnie Stam's effort but will have been cold for a large proportion of the game.

  • Phil Neville

    Phil Neville

Looked a little off the pace and was booked early on for hacking down Charles N'Zogbia part way through a jinking, mazy run into Everton's final third. Allowed the brilliant Seamus Coleman to attack at will, taking hold of the defensive responsibilities.

  • Phil Jagielka

    Phil Jagielka

Dealt with Hugo Rodallega with consummate ease, leaving the Colombian frustrated. Made a fantastic challenge on Mohamed Diame as Wigan broke on the 70th minute.

  • Sylvain Distin

    Sylvain Distin

Prepared for the Wigan counter-attack and looked comfortable alongside the ever-reliable Phil Jagielka. Had little to do as the hosts dominated but the experienced Frenchman didn't switch off.

  • Leighton Baines

    3.50

    Leighton Baines

Unstoppable down the left wing and distribution to match, created endless chances for his team to only squander. May have slightly over-committed to his attack duties however and relied heavily on the hard-working Pienaar to cover him as Wigan attacked on the counter.

  • Seamus Coleman

    2

Seamus Coleman Top of the Match

Continues to prove his plaudits right. Direct going forward and aware at the back, Coleman has the makings of a very good right midfielder. Delighted the Goodison crowd with his willingness to run at Maynor Figueroa. Brilliant to watch.

  • Marouane Fellaini
    1
    2
    3.50

    Marouane Fellaini

In fine form partnering Jack Rodwell in the heart of the Toffees midfield, showing some lovely touches but the former Standard Liege man should have put his side in front with his head in the first half wasting a superb chance from Leighton Baines' fantastic whipped cross.

  • Jack Rodwell

    Jack Rodwell

A metronomic passing display from the youngster who supplied his wingers with balls from the center of midfield. Looked dangerous with a couple of efforts from outside the box and found space to slip balls through to Jermaine Beckford. Shook off the attentions of Wigan's combative midfielders and showed his adaptability moving wide left towards the end of proceedings.

  • Steven Pienaar

    3.00

    Steven Pienaar

Looks almost certain to leave Goodison Park but still played with 100% commitment to the Everton cause. Lacked the creative spark for which he is better known and wasted a fine chance on the hour mark but his defensive efforts were admirable.

  • Tim Cahill
    2

    3.50

    Tim Cahill

Hit the post with a gravity defying header but was less influential than usual, as Honduran Hendry Thomas shadowed the Australian international throughout. Looked typically dangerous when he was able to find space.

  • Louis Saha
    1
    3
    2.50

    Louis Saha

Looks incredibly low on confidence. Should have opened the scoring on the hour mark but limply hit his effort at Ali Al-Habsi. Was brought off for Jermaine Beckford soon afterwards.

    Victor Anichebe

Came on to boos from the Everton faithful but showed a willingness to perform, linking up well with Beckford after his introduction. Looked slightly rusty on occasion, showing a number of heavy touches as he continues his recovery from a long-term knee injury.

  • Jermaine Beckford

    Jermaine Beckford

Entered proceedings on the hour mark as the hosts chased an opening goal. Frustrated through being caught offside on a number of occasions but got into some dangerous positions and looked more of a threat than Louis Saha.

  • Ali Al Habsi

    3.50

    Ali Al Habsi

Relied on his defenders to deal with the vast amount of Everton crosses coming into his box and rarely strayed from his line; a risky tactic but his back four repaid his faith with a Herculean effort stopping the ever dangerous Cahill, Saha and Fellaini.

  • S. Gohouri

    3.00

    S. Gohouri

The Ivorian dealt with sustained Everton pressure manfully as Leighton Baines raced up and down the left hand side. Unable to break forward like he has done in recent weeks as his side were pinned back in their own half.

  • Steven Caldwell

    3.00

    Steven Caldwell

Led his defense in what was a very busy afternoon for the Scotland international. Failed to maintain possession for his side, clearing his lines with a typical no-nonsense approach.

  • Antolín Alcaraz

    Antolín Alcaraz

The Wigan captain looked shaky in the face of Louis Saha, struggling to keep track of the Frenchman on the Everton counter-attack but showed his worth from set-pieces; clearing a number of dangerous crosses from both wings.

  • Maynor Figueroa

Maynor Figueroa Flop of the Match

Struggled with the overlap between Phil Neville and Seamus Coleman. Was unable to break forward with any great vigor and had a fairly torrid time at Goodison Park.

  • H. Thomas

    3.00

    H. Thomas

The Honduran international harried Fellaini and Rodwell with typical vigor, denying the duo time on the ball with which to pick the perfect pass. Offered nothing in an attacking sense but did his job superbly.

  • Mohamed Diame

    0
    3.00

    Mohamed Diame

Linked up well with Hugo Rodallega and looked threatening on the counter attack. Was unfortunate not to get his foot on the ball more often as Everton completely dominated possession in midfield.

  • Charles N'Zogbia

    3.50

    Charles N'Zogbia

Wants a move to a bigger club in January and on today's performance, you wouldn't bet against David Moyes providing him with a much-craved exit route from the DW Stadium. Dangerous down the channel and cutting inside, the Frenchman terrorized the Everton defense.

  • Ben Watson

    0
    3.00

    Ben Watson

Saved his side on the half hour mark with a fantastic blocking header from Rodwell's effort than seemed destined to break the deadlock but was otherwise very quiet.

  • Tom Cleverley
    2
    0
    3.50

    Tom Cleverley

Showed a more defensive side to his game than in recent weeks with an inch-perfect tackle to deny Leighton Baines in the opening five minutes. Growing in stature within Roberto Martinez's side and looked frustrated with his team-mates' efforts at times. Brought off at half time with a rib injury.

  • Hugo Rodallega

    Hugo Rodallega

A frustrating afternoon for the Colombian who looked isolated in the face of Distin and Jagielka. Linked up well with Charles N'Zogbia when the Frenchman drifted inside but needed a more consistent partner to make more of an impact.

Substitutions

  • Ronnie Stam

    3.00

    Ronnie Stam

Came on at half time for Tom Cleverly and lacked the dynamism that the youngster showed in the opening 45 minutes. Worked hard and nearly snatched the points late on, but for a fantastic save from Tim Howard.

  • James McArthur
    0
    0
    3.00

    James McArthur

Brought on with 20 minutes remaining for Hendry Thomas who looked likely to receive a second yellow card. Had very little chance to create an attacking threat as Everton dominated.
