Could perhaps have done a little better on Evatt’s goal, although he wouldn’t have expected the big center-back to win his header from the angle he was at.
Broke forward rather uncharacteristically on seven minutes to get involved in an attack but his mistimed pass saw the move break down. A little shaky at times. Booked for a foul on Grandin.
Did brilliantly in the opening stages not to go to ground as he held firm to dispossess Taylor-Fletcher and Campbell 18 yards out. Stayed solid at the back for the Trotters.
Almost sold his goalkeeper short with a poor backpass, but was spared his blushes. Should have equalized when he was presented a chance in the first half, and was often given problems by Varney.
Set up a great chance for Taylor by getting up well in the box to win a nod down. Perhaps slightly at fault for Evatt’s goal as he failed to track his run, although Elmander was in his way.
The surprise starter in the place of Holden was busy in midfield. He was the man to link up with the wingers and break forward when possible, and got the equalizer after a good run from deep.
Tested Kingson in just the second minute with a free-kick before going close again with a well-struck volley a few minutes later. Always looked to get crosses into the box to set up chances for his team-mates, another decent display from the winger. Subbed in the second half.
Put himself about in the center of midfield, constantly looking to put in blocks and win flick-ons. But had little effect on the game. Replaced in the second half.
Worked his socks off once again down the right-hand side, regularly cutting inside to cause problems to the Blackpool defense, as well as getting back to help out Ricketts at right-back when needed. Subbed in the second half, a minute after failing to clear Varney's effort off the line.
Combined well with Kevin Davies again and set up a great chance for his team-mate early on before testing Kingson on a couple of occasions. Looked as though he may have to go off after picking up a knock in the first half but continued, and should have done better when marking Evatt for the Blackpool opener. Showed great strength one one occasion in the second half but saw his effort saved.
Used his trademark strength to good effect as always, and could have given his side the lead in the 11th minute when his low drive was parried away. Unable to react as Kingson parried Elmander's effort away. Came so close to equalising after Kingson had parried Rodrigo's effort.
Got down well to stop Taylor’s free-kick early on before parrying Kevin Davies’ effort away moments later.
Got forward when he could down the right but also tried to keep Taylor at bay defensively. He had a tough job, though, as Taylor had elements off success, but often after cutting inside and not being tracked. Put in a great block to deny Kevin Davies a chance before having his effort from outside the box fly over the bar.
Snuck in just in front of Elmander to cleverly guide his header into the far corner. Caught out playing a high line at times at the back, but was otherwise good.
Tested right from the off as Elmander looked to burst through on goal, but he did well to flick the ball away from the forward.
Put in a crucial defensive header as he cleared the ball to safety with Kevin Davies lurking. Always looked to get forward, although failed to create too many chances when he did.
Caused problems with a teasing cross to set up a chance for Varney in the first half. Pulled the strings in the Blackpool midfield, and almost scored with an ambitious effort from 45 yards out.
Gave away a dubious free-kick 25 yards out but fortunately wasn’t made to pay as Taylor struck at the goalkeeper. Played a key role in setting up attacks from deep in the midfield - decent display.
Handed a chance from the start this time, and repaid his manager, setting up Evatt’s goal with his corner from the left. Had a good start to the second half playing just behind the striker, setting up chances for his team-mates. Subbed late on.
Playing on the right side of the three-man attack, Taylor-Fletcher nearly played a part in putting his side ahead as he was at the heart of decent move in the opening stages. Squandered a wonderful chance when his skied his left-footed effort from close range well over the bar. Subbed in the second half.
Combined well with Taylor-Fletcher early on to nearly present Blackpool with a decent chance after a good move. Came so close to scoring but saw his effort deflected wide by Knight. Was a shining light in the second half, narrowly missing a couple of chances after some good work.
Almost stole in front of Knight to have a chance to put his side ahead, but wasn’t strong enough. Worked well down the left to set up a chance in the build up to Evatt’s goal. Tireless running again from the forward, and a goal to boot. Replaced by Southern.
- 1 A. Bogdán
- 2 G. Steinsson
Came on as a substitute in the second half. Made the difference as he fired in a goal to make it 2-1 and put in an inspired performance.
- 21 T. Cohen
- 20 R. Blake
Replaced Muamba in the second half. Had an impact and set up Mark Davies' goal.
On in the second half. Played a part as Kevin Davies almost pulled another goal back.
