Player Ratings: Liverpool 3-0 West Ham United

Given next to nothing to do, the Spaniard will have been cold for large periods. It is understandable why the Anfield faithful were so delighted when the Spaniard stated that he didn’t want to leave this week after another solid performance.

The full-back’s attacking prowess can’t be questioned and you feared for Illunga from the off, as the England international tore down the right flank, blowing off any cobwebs left over from his recent spell on the sidelines. Given far too much space for his goal but still finished it superbly.

Not given a lot to do but did look a little off pace for one penetrating run from Piquionne. Was never really in danger.

Was left widely untroubled by a limp West Ham attack but never lost concentration when the visitors threatened to break. His height and strength were more than a match to West Ham’s frequent long-balls.

Tried to get forward as much as possible but Liverpool exploited the right-flank much more effectively. Kept somewhat busy by substitute Barrera in the second period but looked confident in response to his pace

Took his goal brilliantly, guiding a whipped cross into the corner of the net with the slightest of glances. The Argentinean proved a constant menace both down the channel and from cutting inside. Showed glimpses of true class.

The much maligned midfielder gave a performance that spoke more of his opponents than of himself. The Danish international looked completely at ease as his counterparts offered nothing in the way of a challenge. Beat what was put in front of him, which in truth, wasn’t a lot.

Unrecognisable from his poor performance at Stoke last week. The engine at the centre of the Liverpool midfield, Meireles linked defence and attack with typical vigour and always looked interested in pushing forward.

Brought off with 20 minutes remaining after a fairly quiet game in comparison to those around him. Knocked off the ball a couple of times in front of the 18-yard-box but otherwise fairly comfortable.

A couple of misplaced touches proved that the Spain international isn't quite back to his unplayable best but his movement off the ball coupled with an incredible effort with 20 minutes to go will have provided sufficient promise for the Kop faithful.

Was helpless as tide after tide of Liverpool attacks peppered his goal. England goalkeeping coach Ray Clemence was watching from the stands, but he would find it difficult to fault Green for any of the goals. Pulled off two wonderful saves from distance on the 70 minute mark

Completely anonymous, like many of his teammates. Unable to cope with a jinking Maxi and overlapping Konchesky, the right-back looked out of his depth at Anfield.

It speaks volumes that a Fernando Torres still struggling to find his touch managed to terrorise Upson with such ease. The Spaniard had a field day peeling off the two West Ham centre-halves. The England international looked static but was exposed by his team's wide players at time

Gave away a penalty for which there was no argument and like Upson,struggled with a dynamic Liverpool, who, unlike a Roy Hodgson side, switched positions and roamed ominously in front of the 18-yard-box.

Looked petrified in the face of Glen Johnson and rightly so. Had no support from Obinna in right midfield for which you have to have a little sympathy. Not a bad performance, but folded under pressure from a rampant Liverpool midfield.

Switched to his preferred left wing from the centre of midfield and was solid from then on. Never really threatening, Boa Morte at least kept his shape, making Dirk Kuyt and Glen Johnson's lives a little less easy.

Was given a job to protect his centre halves and, despite the scoreline, performed the job manfully. Made a number of last ditch blocks and tackles and showed a little heart, if not any creativity.

Lacked the dynamism for which he has become known. The youngster looked lost without Scott Parker, never really able to get a foothold in the game or a touch on the ball.

You sensed that Cole could have caused problems against the much smaller Carragher but a complete lack of quality distribution coming his way contributed to a very frustrating afternoon for the England international.

A small, but definite thorn in Liverpool’s side. The Frenchman’s height proved difficult for the home side’s defence in the opening exchanges. Unlucky that his flick-ons weren’t able to find Carlton Cole more often.
