New York Red Bulls 2-1 Manchester City: Dane Richards Outshines Thierry Henry As MLS Side Shock Citizens
Premier League side toppled by wonder strike.

Red Bull Arena, Harrison, New Jersey, USA
Kick off: 20:30 BST
Manchester City suffered their second consecutive defeat in the USA, as the New York Red Bulls won 2-1 at the Red Bulls Arena.
Roberto Mancini’s side should have taken the lead inside five minutes, after a great move was suppressed at the final moments by Red Bulls stopper Bouna Coundoul.
But Macoumba Kandji had City’s tail between their legs minutes later, after the striker did exceptionally well to latch onto Dane Richards driven cross, to send the home fans into rapture inside the Red Bull Arena.
And Thierry Henry went close to making it two on 20 minutes. The former Arsenal and Barcelona man span away from Boyata, and looked to bend the ball past Joe Hart with typical guile, but his effort just slipped wide of the post.
Once again City looked destined to score. Jo and Emmanuelle Adebayor linked-up brilliantly as the Brazilian slipped the Togo striker through on goal, but just like Jo’s attempt at the start of the match, Coundoul was equal to his effort, and made a fine save.
HALF-TIME: New York Red Bulls 1-0 Manchester City
Adebayor went looking for City’s equalizer five minutes after the restart, cutting in from the left after receiving the ball from Wayne Bridge, but the striker’s curled effort drifted wide of Coundoul’s post.
And City bagged their equalizer moments later. Substitute Greg Cunningham did brilliantly down the left flank for the visitors, before whipping a delightful cross into the box, and Jo was on hand to delicately swoop the ball into the back of the net.
Adam Johnson was causing havoc down the Red Bulls left hand side, and after he was fouled on the touchline, City almost took the lead. The England winger whipped in a delightful cross, and Nedum Onuoha met it with a powerful header, which just flew other the bar.
And City would curse that missed opportunity, as less than a minute later, Richards restored New York’s lead with a fantastic 30 yard drive. Receiving the ball of the right flank, the winger gave himself space to set the shot, before firing an effort over the helpless 'keeper, and into the net via the crossbar.
