Pulled off one genius save on Iniesta, but couldn't come up with the second. Overall a very steady game for the goalkeeper.
Solid in defense and pushed forward slightly in the second half. Overall a very competent fullback performance.
Construed to head an open chance high with the goal gaping, but didn't make any similar mistakes on defense.
The world will remember him for his soft red card in extra time, but before that Heitinga put in a rock solid shift in the heart of defense. He also stepped forward to cut out attacks exceptionally well.
Struggled a bit with the pace Navas in the later goings, but used his experience to put out fires and cover whenever Spain breached the center defensive pair. Composed performance.
This was exactly van Bommel's kind of match: dirty, rough, gritty, and tight. Needless to say, he excelled.
Easily could have seen red for spearing Alonso in the chest with the bottom of his boots, but stayed on the pitch to clamp down on the Spanish midfield.
Struggled to carve out his role in a tight game. His vision did put Robben through on goal once, but Casillas blocked with his feet.
Electric and lively, Robben's pace provided the best chances for breaking down Spain's defense. Unfortunately, his finishing made sure that never happened.
Perhaps the final was one match more than Kuyt's stamina could take, because the Liverpool winger was subdued and consistently beaten by Ramos.
Quiet. In a tight chess match, the striker found himself edged out of the influential areas.
Accidentally backheaded a ball to his goalkeeper and didn't do much else when coming on late.
Deployed in a rather deep position, van der Vaart kept the ball moving well after coming on. Took over the captain's armband when van Bronckhorst went off.
Really should have done more with his minutes on the pitch. Hardly made an impact at all, even when Spain's defense showed itself vulnerable to pace.
Save after save, Saint Iker kept Spain in the match. He fully earned the right to lift the World Cup as captain.
Made Kuyt look foolish several times early on and gave a strong display throughout. No Dutch attacks found traction down his flank.
Cool and composed for someone so young in a World Cup final. Never seemed fully tested because he was ahead of the play.
Perhaps should have seen red for hanging on Robben as the Dutchman broke free on goal, but hardly put a foot wrong other than that.
Couldn't quite contain Robben but did about as well as could be expected.
Put in a respectable shift by keeping things tidy in the middle and slicing some clever balls through to his forwards. Removed for the more adventurous Fabregas.
Cleaned up in midfield and distributed quickly and well.
Struggled to wiggle free from van Bommel's man-marking job.
A surprise inclusion in the starting lineup, the youngster didn't add to his growing legacy and found himself edged out of the majority of the action. Made way after an hour.
Scored the winning goal to cap off a dangerous performance. Looked gun-shy throughout the match, but pulled the trigger when it mattered.
Provided everything but the goal. Darting runs, well-struck shots, clever layoffs. Only subpar finishing prevented Villa from claiming hero status.
His direct and pacy play altered the game when he came on.
Charged with creating a goal, the Arsenal captain did just that, sliding the ball through to Iniesta for the game's only goal. Involved in much of Spain's good work upon coming on.
Started the move that led to the goal, but didn't add much else. Managed to injure himself running late on.
