And that's the final whistle - some players collapse - they are beat. It's all square for the final leg now, so it'll probably be another slugfest goal crazy game. Viva el Superclasico!

Yikes, missed passes and tired legs on both sides - now the chance is for Chivas USA deep in Galaxy's end.

Back and forth in the midfield, but the ball goes out deep in Chivas territory for a throw. Dunivant tosses, but Chivas USA clear.

Donovan finds Gordon in the box, but he can't quite make clear contact with the ball.

Steps to the ball and serves it right to Thornton.

Foul on Lewis sets up FK for Becks, but it's far out. There's also confetti all over Thornton's goal. Beckham waits.

Galindo offside. He's like a cobra, that one, but struck a bit too early there.

Braun goes down way too easy in the box - no call, Galaxy going the other way springs Beckham on a break, but Gordon goes down after a hit.

Gordon is barely wide on a header, but he was offside anyway.

Then another one, but this time, Gordon shoots wide.

Of a corner, Chivas USA get two shots off that the Galaxy barely deflect, then LD is on a counter - he and Beckham trade the ball off well, then Gordon gets a touch, back to Donovan, whose shot is saved by Thornton. Rapid-fire opportunities here.

Dunivant with his trademark long toss - ball gets out to Birchall. and then is served back into the box, Gordon misses, Becks puts it back in, Chivas USA clear and it's going the other way.

Or maybe he pulled something. Josh Saunders, the backup, is warming up.

Guess Arena isn't forgiving the miss, Buddle is off for Gordon. Ricketts is down for some reason - not sure if he fell wrong in that miss.

Galindo nearly scored again, though it looked like he was trying to cross it. Still, the ball evaded Ricketts and bounced just wide of the post.

Thornton's goal is beautified by copious amounts of streamers.

Ricketts holding his hand up against the sun, but he manages to see well enough to catch the high cross of Santos.

Dunivant cross is headed back in front of goal and Buddle attempts a volley - it's too high.

Lewis is barely in and seems like he picked up a knock, but he shakes it off.

The Galaxy escape from that ensuing corner, but the ball is nearly exclusively in their end all this half.

Ricketts stones Santos on a shot!

The sun is still an issue in the middle of the field - which incleudes' both goals. Galindo on a break again, but this time Gonzalez stands him up. Chivas USA attack again, though.

That results in another corner, which the Galaxy clear, but Braun is now a crossing machine and gets in another that is cleared for a throw.

Birchall mismarks Braun allowing the bigger, slower player past him while he sprawls. Berhalter has to intercede and give up a corner. That leads to a shot that Ricketts barely saves.

The Galaxy, meanwhile, look frustrated, as well they should. Two rather sloppy goals they've allowed in this match, when they were previously the poster boys for defensive improvement.

Buoyed by finding the equalizer so quickly, Chivas USA are pressing in, looking for more.

Oooh, the rookie defender screwed that one up. Gonzalez hit a backpass that evaded his fellow defender and Galindo pounced and scored before Ricketts could reach it.

Galindo in the box with the ball, a shot - Frankln deflects - just barely - Chivas USA looking far more dangerous. The ensuing corner is cleared and Donovan is out on the run, but Jazic puts the ball out before he can do any damage.

Amazngly, Braun stays onside and serves in a very nice cross. It's cleared, though, but a few more of those could make a difference for Chivas USA.

Sure enough, Preki listened to me and has put in a forward with serious wheels, Galindo. He still hasn't listened to Bueno, though as Lillingston is on the bench.

Well, just like in the other playoff game today, the team with the early lead then gave up two goals. But this happened all in the first half, and in this case, it was also the higher seed (and nominal away squad) making the comeback. Still, I think Preki has some tricks up his sleeve. I expect Lillingston to sub in, and perhaps Galindo to be the speedster to harass the Galaxy backline. There's a lot of game left to be played.

Another Galaxy corner, but this is headed wide by Dunivant.

Donovan fouled Nagamura, but it seemed like he got the ball first and even though LD isn't arguing the call - he gives his old teammate Nagamura a friendly pat - Beckham seems upset about it and is pleading some case with the referee.

Kind of a scrappy goal, but Donovan will take it, I'm sure. Beckham's corner got bounced out to Magee, but then Santos had a bad clear and the ball was still alive and Donovan finally poked it in, as Thornton rushed to him, the ball was slowly rolling past him and across the line.

Braun is offside. That's pretty much the extent of his contribution so far for Chivas USA, too.

Beckham with some nice dribble moves and quick passes advances the ball up the sideline- did he pick those up from Ronaldinho? However, Bornstein cuts off the attack.

Chivas USA are doing the job defensively on Donovan, giving him very little room to get involved in plays, but then again, Sean Franklin is also marking Kljestan very tightly.

The Galaxy look like the home team in that they are attacking more, while Chivas USA is looking to break quickly on the counter. The ball is down in Chivas USA's own end more, but their breakout opportunities look promising at times - like with the opening goal.

Birchall's tackle was an exceedingly clumsy one.

Gonzalez does well to cut Santos off from his own pass - Gonazalez may be a big guy, but he's not slow.

Both teams have moved their defensive lines up, cutting the field into a smaller segment at midfield. The right through pass meeting the right run could break things open here big-time.

Chivas USA are on the attack, but they touch the ball out because Santos is in pain. He limps up, though.

Two quick goals make this a wide open game, but both teams will want to settle in and control things a bit more.

Magee equalizes! That came a bit out of nowhere. Landon Donovan flicked on a looping ball into the box and Magee came out to scrap for it, even though it seemed like Yamith Cuesta was on the ball. But the sun may have worked in the Galaxy's favor this time, because he lost right of it for a moment and touched it wrong, whereupon Magee pounced and finished well past Thornton.

Poor Beckham free kick - though he may be struggling with the shadow - the stadium is basically split in half right now - shade and light, so perhaps he thought someone was making a run, but it was just a mirage.

Lahoud cuts off a Beckham crosd for a corner. Chivas USA win it, Berhalter fouls, so it's a goal kick.

Chivas USA look lively, while the Galaxy look like they're trying to figure out how to play together.

You don't see that often, Kovalenko in a collision with Jonny Bornstein - and Kovalenko clearly gets the worst of it. He may not be game-ready, that Dema.

Sean Franklin on an exploratory run that fizzles out in the box when he's shielded off the ball and is forced to watch it roll out.

It's an early goal for Chivas USA - and Kljestan called it. When I interviewed him, he said he thought Maicon Santos could have an impact in the game and it certainly happened. Kljestan also had the pitch-perfect assist. Santos squared up on Gonzalez, who probably should've stepped to him a bit quickly, and Santos slotted it just inside the far post, past the reach of a diving Ricketts.

Kljestan is carving through on the left like a hot knife through butter, but his final dribble touch gets away from him and Berhalter cuts off his advance.

Buddle with a shot! He shielded his defender and turned in the box - a cheeky early attempt. Side netting, though.

And they're off! Racing to the first touch of the ball is Beckham, but Maicon Santos gets in his way before he can launch a long pass.

Poor passes in the midfield for both sides create and end chances in quck succession. Nerves, perhaps.

Galaxy on another attack, but Magee's shot is deflected and then a follow-up cross drifts high and over the far line.

Dema Kovalenko is back in the lineup for the Galaxy, presumably to add some playoff grit to the midfield.

No big surprise in the lineups, except Preki is going against Luis Bueno's wishes and keeping Eduardo Lillingston on the bench for now.
