After a strong start, FC Dallas will look to stop a losing skid when it faces a San Jose team also trying to improve its form.
Two teams hoping to improve their Western Conference position face off Saturday when the San Jose Earthquakes host FC Dallas at Buck Shaw Stadium (10:30 p.m. ET, MLS LIVE).
The visitors ran out to an excellent start, going undefeated in their first five games, but lost four of their next five including a 2-1 midweek defeat in Seattle. The Quakes had a bit more success Wednesday, drawing the Colorado Rapids 0-0, but lost right back Andreas Gorlitz to what the team believes will be a season-ending knee injury. Dallas, too, has a long-term absentee with playmaker Mauro Diaz set to undergo surgery and miss 6-10 weeks of action after sustaining a right knee injury.
The injuries add to what might already be weary legs with both clubs coming off short rest, but both teams will have a full week off before their next contests.
The hosts haven't been able to find the scoring touch they've hoped for but forward Chris Wondolowski and the rest of the attack will be eager to face a FC Dallas defense that his given up the second-most goals in the league this campaign.
