Barely a thing to do all night, as Mrseille hardly managed to fashion anything in front of his goal.

Hardly put a foot wrong at the back, marking Khalifa right out of the game and dominating his penalty box in every aerial duel that he faced.

    Mats Hummels

Never looked likely to be beaten in defence, as he read the game superbly to make himself first to almost every ball that came his way.

    Erik Durm

Rode his luck with a challenge from behind on Khalifa that sent the forward tumbling in the box, narrowly avoiding a penalty call. Was accomplished otherwise, locking down his flank defensively and sprinting forward to tee up the first goal for Lewandowski.

  • Sven Bender

    Sven Bender

Not always the most trying game for the most defensive member of Dortmund's front six, as he was quick to press his opponents on and off the ball, playing a solid part in stifling their attack.

    Henrikh Mkhitaryan

With Marseille's defence struggling to cope with Aubameyang and Reus out wide, the Armenian often ghosted into dangerous positions at the top of the box, and passed the ball excellently in such tight areas.

  • Marco Reus

    Marco Reus

The main livewire throughout an impressive Dortmund attacking unit. His ability to both run with the ball and play in his team-mates was a nightmare for the helpless Marseille defence. After playing a role in the first, he scored the second himself with a seemingly harmless free kick that bounced right in, and won the penalty for his side's third.

    Nuri Sahin

With so many runners and so much movement in front of him, the midfielder did what he does best - sitting deep and spraying a series of incisive passes forward to facilitate his team on the counter.

  • Kevin Großkreutz

    Kevin Großkreutz

Completely in control at right back, hounding the likes of Ayew with regularity, and ensuring that little breached his side of the pitch. Supported the attack well to boot.

Robert Lewandowski Top of the Match

As he so often is, the Pole was in the right place at the right time to tap in the opener from a yard out. Excellent awareness of his team-mates whenever Dortmund broke at pace, and buried a late penalty to cap off a fantastic game.

  • Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

    Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

As he has done so often in his impressive debut season for the Bundesliga side, Aubameyang was an ever present threat on the right flank, constantly causing problems with his speed and movement off the ball.

    Steve Mandanda

Made a complete hash of a harmless Reus free kick, letting it bounce right past him for Dortmund's second goal. Went some way to making up for that, however, with a series of fine saves to keep the score down, many of them with his legs.

    N. N'Koulou Flop of the Match

Was having a solid game up until the 80th minute, when he blatantly tripped Reus inside the area, conceding a penalty that Lewandowski converted for the final nail in Marseille's coffin.

    Lucas

Nearly gifted Lewandowski an early route through by slipping in his haste to cut out a through-ball. That set the tone for his evening, as he regularly lost out to Dortmund's attackers.

  • Benjamin Mendy

    Benjamin Mendy

Hapless against the pace of first Aubameyang, and then Blaszczykowski out on the flanks, he was regularly seen chasing shadows.

  • Rod Fanni

    Rod Fanni

A dreadful outing against Reus, constantly losing the forward whenever he drifted infield, and hardly faring better when he attacked him directly out wide.

    Alaixys Romao

It was his careless foul that conceded the free kick from which Dortmund scored their second, and he was not much help stemming the Dortmund tide otherwise.

    G. Imbula

Though he occasionally threatened in the first half with his admirable ability to drive forward with the ball, that quickly faded as he was increasingly unreliable in possession as time wore on.

    Mathieu Valbuena

Try as he might, the diminutive midfielder could not get to grips with the game, as he was constantly bullied off the ball. However, he did managed to draw two yellow cards on Dortmund players.

  • André Ayew

    André Ayew

Played with a lot of energy, but little idea of how to channel it in an effective manner, as the putrid performance of his team rubbed off on him.

  • Dimitri Payet

    Dimitri Payet

One early run aside, he was anonymous out wide and for most of the game, functioned as little more than a passenger.

    Saber Khlifa

Lost his footing on an early opportunity to score, and though he had a small case for a penalty, his game never rose above those meager heights. Isolated and stymied up front.
