Player Ratings: Tottenham 3-0 Stoke City

Spurs found their goalscoring touch as strikes from Roberto Soldado, Mousa Dembele and Aaron Lennon comfortably saw off a lackluster Potters side at White Hart Lane.

    Hugo Lloris

Didn't have anything to do but commanded his area well and was always vigilant.

His covering ensured Dawson's lack of pace never became a serious issue, although that might not be a sustainable strategy against more mobile strikers than Crouch and Walters.

    Kyle Naughton

Looks far more comfortable at right back. Tackled well and tried to be positive with his passing whenever he got the chance. Occasionally troubled by Assaidi.

  • Michael Dawson

    Michael Dawson

Was always going to be outgunned by Crouch in the air, but made sure the former Spurs man did his best work far away from goal. Lucky not to concede a penalty for a dodgy first-half challenge on Assaidi.

    Ezekiel Fryers

Appears a decent option at left back. Was solid defensively - it helped that he had no orthodox winger to face - and got forward often to produce dangerous crosses.

  • Aaron Lennon

Aaron Lennon Top of the Match

Was Spurs' likeliest route to a goal whenever he isolated Pieters, even when his final ball was inconsistent. Both Soldado and Adebayor should have found the net from his crosses. Took his goal brilliantly.

  • Paulinho

    Paulinho

The key reason for Tottenham's midfield dominance until his enforced withdrawal through injury on the hour. His passing, tackling, awareness and energy were all superb, and only his shooting let him down. An impressive return from suspension.

  • Mousa Dembélé

    Mousa Dembélé

Began the game in dawdling mood but his play gained urgency as the afternoon wore on and his goal was brilliantly taken. Rose to the task of pulling Tottenham's midfield strings once Paulinho went off.

  • Christian Eriksen

    Christian Eriksen

Almost every forward pass in the first half was wayward and his set pieces were consistently poor. Improved after the break and tested Sorensen once with a long shot, but remained on the periphery.

  • Roberto Soldado

    Roberto Soldado

Still can't buy a goal from open play and missed a couple of very good chances, but took his penalty with the kind of assurance that belies a man in the midst of a confidence crisis. The goals will come, surely.

  • Emmanuel Adebayor

    Emmanuel Adebayor

Fluffed one good chance to score himself but worked himself into the ground and drove his team forward at every opportunity.

    Etienne Capoue

Replaced Paulinho and was remarkably solid given his lack of playing time in recent weeks. Stoke didn't stretch him though.

Replaced Lennon with 15 minutes to go and almost got himself a goal. A lively cameo.

Made a couple of decent saves and could do nothing about any of the goals.

  • Erik Pieters

    Erik Pieters

Tormented by Lennon all afternoon. A torrid display, though it's hardly his fault his boots weren't fitted with a turbocharger.

  • Ryan Shawcross

    2.50

    Ryan Shawcross

Made a number of good headed clearances early on but committed the decisive mistake of the match when he practically saved Adebayor's scissor-kick in the box. His team never recovered.

Eriksen's tendency to drift inside meant he had no direct opponent but he failed to provide his team with any sort of counterattacking outlet.

    Andy Wilkinson

Comfortable dealing with high balls into the box, uncomfortable with everything else. Tottenham quickly found ways around him.

    Steven N'Zonzi

Was supposed to be the passer in this Stoke midfield but was comfortably outshone by Dembele, Paulinho and Capoue. Made to look silly for Dembele's goal.

Stephen Ireland Flop of the Match

Did nothing in the first half and it was no surprise to see him hauled off for Adam five minutes after the break.

  • Jonathan Walters

    Oussama Assaidi

Looked Stoke's most dangerous attacking outlet and perhaps should have had a penalty when felled by Dawson, but faded with his team after Soldado's penalty.

    Peter Crouch

His good hold-up work ensured Stoke's game plan worked until Soldado's penalty, but he had nothing to work with.
