Player Ratings: Tahiti 1-6 Nigeria

Goal evaluates the performances of everyone involved in Belo Horizonte, where the Super Eagles ran riot, with Nnamdi Oduamadi bagging a hat trick.

    Xavier Samin

Impossible not to feel great sympathy for him after he was beaten by a double deflection just five minutes in. Nothing he could do about many of Nigeria's goals, but he was totally to blame for their third by spilling the ball at Oduamadi's feet.

  • Tehevaril Ludivion

    Tehevaril Ludivion

Beaten too easily by Oduamadi for the forward's first goal but, overall, did relatively well in very difficult circumstances.

  • Nicolas Vallar

    2.50

    Nicolas Vallar

The skipper led by example, making a vital interception just over 60 seconds in. Dreadfully unfortunate that one of the deflections on Nigeria's opener came off him. Ran out of steam early in the second half.

  • Jonathan Tehau

    3.50

    Jonathan Tehau

His part in two of the own goals was disappointing but he will never forget - or stop recounting the story of - his towering back-post header. Also showed good quality on the ball throughout, nutmegging Mikel at one point.

  • Vincent Simon

    Vincent Simon

Registered the game's first shot on goal, after cutting inside well before shooting tamely at Enyeama. Continued to push forward whenever he could thereafter.

  • Alvin Tehau

    Alvin Tehau

Worked tirelessly for the Tahiti cause but was often left chasing shadows.

  • Henri Caroine

    Henri Caroine

Ran his socks off and looked very neat and tidy in possession.

  • Heimano Bourebare

    2.50

    Heimano Bourebare

Must take the blame for Nigeria's second goal with a dreadfully wayward pass under no pressure whatsoever, but he recovered well from that error and was involved in a lot of Tahiti's best build-up play.

  • Ricky Aitamai
    4
    3
    3.00

    Ricky Aitamai

Struggled with his defensive duties at times but a fine outlet down the right-hand side for Tahiti. His crossing was erratic at times but he whipped over one ball that Chong Hue really should have buried.

  • Marama Vahirua
    4
    3
    3.00

    Marama Vahirua

The one professional in the Tahiti line-up, so he was unsurprisingly influential, driving his side forward at every opportunity, and even testing Enyeama with a terrific strike from distance. At fault for Tehau's own goal but bagged an assist with a far-post corner for the same player.

  • Steevy Chong Hue
    6
    3
    3.50

    Steevy Chong Hue

Arguably the most exciting attacker on the pitch in the first half, the 23-year-old burned Ambrose at one point before tempting Omeruo into a rash challenge with his quick feet. However, missed a great headed chance just before the break and faded in the second half.

    Stephane Faatiarau

Replaced Vallar early in the second half and defended well.

    Edson Lemaire

Only saw 13 minutes of action after coming on for Simon.

  • Stanley Atani

    Stanley Atani

Came on for Vahirua with 20 minutes remaining but could not make anything like the same impact in that time.

  • Vincent Enyeama

    3.00

    Vincent Enyeama

The captain was a little busier than he would have expected and had to pull off one fine fingertip save to keep out a well-struck drive from Vahirua.

  • Godfrey Oboabona
    7
    3
    2.50

    Godfrey Oboabona

Struggled defensively at times. Indeed, Chong Hue did a lot of his best work down Oboabona's side.

  • Uwa Elderson Echiejile
    12
    2
    4.00

    Uwa Elderson Echiejile

Made the most of a rare opportunity to bomb forward with gay abandon, scoring twice, though his first goal came courtesy of two deflections. Still, a fine performance from the full-back.

  • E. Ambrose
    9
    2
    1.50

    E. Ambrose

Left red-faced after being comprehensively beaten for pace by Steevy Chong Hue and was lucky that his skipper belatedly came to his rescue. However, nobody was on hand to bail him out after being outjumped by Jonathan Tehau at a second-half corner.

  • Kenneth Omeruo
    9
    3
    2.50

    Kenneth Omeruo

Another embarrassed by Chong Hue, with the teenage defender booked for a desperately clumsy challenge on the livewire Tahiti forward.

  • John Obi Mikel
    16
    3
    2.50

    John Obi Mikel

Ran things in midfield for Nigeria but was nowhere near his best and was nutmegged by Jonathan Tehau at one point.

  • Fegor Ogude
    9
    4
    2.50

    Fegor Ogude

Played his part in opening up the Tahiti defence time and time again, but, like a number of his team-mates, looked a tad too laid back at times.

  • Sunday Mba
    4
    9
    2.00

    Sunday Mba

Made an absolute mess of a one-on-one 40 minutes in by getting his body shape all wrong and, consequently, shooting straight at Samin. Replaced soon after.

  • Ahmed Firaz Moosa
    16
    7
    3.00

    Ahmed Firaz Moosa

Set up two goals in total but also botched a glorious chance by miscuing after rounding the keeper. Squandered another great opening early in the second period, too.

  • Anthony Ujah
    5
    9
    1.50

    Anthony Ujah

Inexcusably failed to pass after being put in on goal half an hour in, preferring instead to embarrass himself by failing to dribble around Samin. Deservedly subbed just after the interval.

  • Nnamdi Oduamadi
    28
    1
    4.00

    Nnamdi Oduamadi

Showed impressive poise and composure in doubling Nigeria's advantage with a cool finish before making it 3-0 with a two-yard tap-in.

Substitutions

  • Azubuike Egwueke
    4
    0

    Azubuike Egwueke

Replaced Omeruo at the back with 16 minutes to go.

  • John Ogochukwu Ogu
    8
    3
    2.50

    John Ogochukwu Ogu

Came on 10 minutes into the second period for Sunday Mba and was pretty anonymous.

  • B. Ideye
    10
    7
    3.00

    B. Ideye

Introduced shortly after half-time at the expense of the wasteful Ujah and set up Oduamadi's hat-trick goal before then blowing a golden opportunity to get himself on the scoresheet by trying to be far too clever for his own good.
