    Artur

Other than picking out a Dirk Kuyt penalty, Artur had to wait until the 80th minute for his first meaningful save of the night from substitute Miroslav Stoch. A quiet evening.

  • Luisao

    Luisao

The Benfica captain returned from injury to lead his side to the Europa League final on the back of a solid performance. Played his part with a series of interceptions and strong tackles to frustrate his opponents.

  • Maxi Pereira

    Maxi Pereira

Enjoyed a decent performance with his attacking runs a particular highlight in a breathless game. Silly booking curtailed his hopes of a final.

  • Ezequiel Garay

    Ezequiel Garay

Unlucky to have been penalized for handball, Garay otherwise played with less confidence following that initial setback. Did well beforehand, but was a liability this evening.

  • Toto Salvio

    Toto Salvio

On a night where Salvio set a Europa League record for most appearances – his performance was efficient and deserving. Salvio's deliveries and attacking creativity aided Benfica greatly on a positive night.

  • Osvaldo Nicolás Fabián Gaitán

    Osvaldo Nicolás Fabián Gaitán

Missed much of the first leg last week due to injury, but returned to start and his impact was telling. Scored a delightful first and his evening only improved from there. A constant threat throughout.

  • Nemanja Matić

    Nemanja Matić

The Serbia midfielder was efficient in the middle of the park, calmly picking off the threat posed from the Turkish opponents to set up a final against his former employers.

  • André Almeida

    André Almeida

The left back, like Pereira, couldn't offer as much of an attacking threat but he was defensively sound.

  • Enzo Nicolás Pérez

    Enzo Nicolás Pérez

Returned from suspension to start at Estadio da Luz and Perez was one of the brighter midfielders in a frenetic opening. Pulled the strings in a packed midfield and constantly created chances. Picked up an unnecessary booking.

  • Ó. Cardozo

Ó. Cardozo Top of the Match

The star of the night. The Paraguayan striker markedly improved from his lackluster showing in Turkey, to lead the Benfica charge at home. Showed brilliant composure and intensity to trouble the Fenerbahce defense, and also a quick head to put the side 2-1 ahead on the night. Doubled his tally when it mattered with a fine finish to seal his side's passage.

  • Lima

    Lima

The Brazilian striker ensured Gokhan Gonul endured a difficult evening with his marauding runs. Linked up well with Gaitan and Cardozo.

  • Volkan Demirel

    Volkan Demirel

The Turkey international appeared jittery in the opening exchanges, and apart from one decent save from Cardozo, was left to otherwise pick the ball out of the net. Notably denied Lima in the second half.

  • Egemen Korkmaz

    2.00

    Egemen Korkmaz

Not as influential compared to last week’s first leg, as Korkmaz struggled in the face of a potent Benfica attack. Left out of position on occasions. Lucky to have gotten away with a penalty appeal, and largely undisciplined for most of the evening.

  • Joseph Yobo

    Joseph Yobo

Like Korkmaz, the Nigerian defender couldn't keep up with the pace afforded from the Benfica forwards. Caught out on occasions, it was a poor evening in truth.

  • Reto Ziegler

    1.50

    Reto Ziegler

Unlike Gokhan, the Swiss international was rather limited on the wing, instead forced to contend with the unrelenting attacking pressure coming his way. Couldn't contain with the pace on offer and was caught out of his position several times.

  • Gökhan Gönül
    6
    2
    3.00

    Gökhan Gönül

One of the better Fenerbahce defenders this evening, the fullback combined attack and defense superbly, with his gritty defending a highlight. Sadly, stretchered off with a serious injury after being caught by Nicolas Gaitan.

  • Cristian Baroni
    1
    2
    2.00

    Cristian Baroni

The face of the first leg last week, Cristian couldn’t influence proceedings in midfield. Hurried on many occasions, he was forced on the defensive. Erratic on the ball, it was just not his night.

  • Selçuk Şahin

Selçuk Şahin Flop of the Match

Struggled in a fast-paced midfield and was eventually substituted just before halftime to cap off an extremely disappointing outing.

  • Salih Uçan

    2.00

    Salih Uçan

The young 19-year-old midfield failed to pick Fenerbahce from the doldrums and was comfortably marshaled by the likes of Enzo Perez. Was on the wane as the night progressed.

  • Caner Erkin
    1
    3
    1.50

    Caner Erkin

A poor evening from the midfielder, typified by his second half free kick which flew hopelessly over the bar. Upstaged by his opponents, Erkin will surely be disappointed by his outing.

  • Moussa Sow
    3
    2
    2.00

    Moussa Sow

Isolated up front for large periods of the game, the Senegalese striker endured a difficult evening. Failed to seriously trouble the Benfica goal, and couldn’t benefit from decent service from his teammates.

  • Dirk Kuyt
    10
    2
    2.50

    Dirk Kuyt

Scored the unlikely penalty that allowed Fenerbahce to gain the away goal, the Netherlands international was otherwise average up front. A few decent chances, but couldn’t trouble Artur.

Substitutions

  • Bekir İrtegün
    2
    3
    1.50

    Bekir İrtegün

Scorer of a fantastic goal against Marseille in the group stages, Irtegun came on for the seriously injured Gokhan Gonul, but couldn’t assert his authority.

  • Miroslav Stoch
    8
    2
    2.00

    Miroslav Stoch

The most influential of the Fener substitutes, he was the only one to trouble Artur with a powerful shot which the goalkeeper did well to parry away.

  • Mehmet Topuz
    2
    3
    1.50

    Mehmet Topuz

The first of the Fener replacements, Topuz, on for Sahin, couldn’t prevent the Portuguese revival in the second half.
