    Simon Moore

A mere spectator in the first half, with the hosts taking the game to Chelsea, but dealt well with what work came his way. Nothing he could do about either goal.

  • Lee Hodson

    Lee Hodson

Supported both Donaldson and Trotta well down the right, often looking inside for the easy option rather than taking on his man.

    Shaleum Logan

Solid down the left flank when put up against the threat of Ivanovic and Marin, with his pace bailing him out of trouble on more than one occasion, while at the other end he proved a real handful going forward.

  • Tony Craig

    Tony Craig

Dealt well with whatever came his way, snuffing out Torres and covering for his fullbacks when they ventured forwards.

  • Adam John Forshaw

    Adam John Forshaw

Not afraid to drive forward from midfield and go beyond the striker, while he always made himself available for the pass, with his superb slide tackle helping to set up the opener.

    Harlee Dean

Imperious in the air but on the deck, was pulled this way and that by the visitors' more fluid approach play after their equalizer.

  • Jonathan Douglas

    Jonathan Douglas

Provided an aerial presence in the middle of the park and was economical in his use of the ball, but his influence waned as Chelsea poured forwards in search of a winner.

  • Toumani Diagouraga

    3.00

    Toumani Diagouraga

The combative midfielder was very busy early on getting in and around both Ramires and Lampard, and what he lacked in technique he more than made up for in power and work rate.

  • Clayton Donaldson
    2
    5
    3.50

    Clayton Donaldson

Started out wide to try and use his aerial presence and pace down the flanks, which saw the game pass him by for prolonged spells, but his pass through to Adeyemi for the penalty was a great through ball.

  • Harry Forrester

Harry Forrester Top of the Match

His closing down forced the indirect free kick in the first half which then saw him go close with a stinging drive. His mazy runs proved difficult to deal with and his penalty was coolly slotted home. Impressive.

  • Marcello Trotta

    Marcello Trotta

Direct and full of pace, the on-loan Fulham winger was quickest to react to turn home the opening goal after losing his man in the box.

Substitutions

  • Scott Barron

    2.00

    Scott Barron

A late outing for the left back to try and add more defensive solidity as Brentford sought to hold on to its lead, but unable to have any telling impact on proceedings,

  • Sam Saunders

    Sam Saunders

Introduced just before the equalizer from Torres, he put in plenty of graft during his cameo, but to little tangible effect.

  • Tom Adeyemi

    6
    3.00

    Tom Adeyemi

While there may be suspicions that he went down a little easily in the box to win the penalty in the first place, the darting run he made to find the room in the first place was exceptional.

  • Ross Turnbull

    31
    1.00

Ross Turnbull Flop of the Match

Looked very nervous with the ball at his feet, causing a defensive mix-up with Terry in the first half. His lack of communication with his back four was troubling and he should have done a lot better with Forrester's effort which led to the opening goal, before conceding the penalty. Awful display.

  • Ashley Cole
    20
    6
    3.00

    Ashley Cole

With Bertrand comfortable at left back sat just in front of him, this gave Cole free license to bomb forward whenever the side had the ball to good effect.

  • Branislav Ivanovic
    18
    12
    3.00

    Branislav Ivanovic

Left plenty of space behind him on the right as he got forward for the opposition to attack, which Donaldson and Trotta exploited well.

  • Gary Cahill
    19
    5
    3.00

    Gary Cahill

Seemed to relish the combative nature of the clash, closing down the opposition whenever they had the ball on the edge of the box quicker than any of his teammates.

  • John Terry
    17
    11
    2.50

    John Terry

Given plenty of time and space to utilize his decent range of passing early on but looked rusty when put on the back foot, while his decision-making left a lot to be desired.

  • Ryan Bertrand
    7
    21
    2.50

    Ryan Bertrand

Found more room to maneuver down the left in the second half, with a low cross straight after the break causing plenty of problems but lacked that crucial end product in the final third, missing an absolute sitter at the near post late on. Disappointing.

  • Frank Lampard
    21
    9
    2.50

    Frank Lampard

Kept things ticking over in midfield with his simple, but sensible passing game, but was at fault for the opener after being caught on the ball. Looked far from his usual influential self.

  • Marko Marin
    15
    15
    2.00

    Marko Marin

Looked unsure whether to drift in off the flank to try and go in search of the ball or hold his position despite the lack of impact he was having on proceedings and was substituted at halftime.

  • Oscar
    39
    6
    3.50

    Oscar

Aside from a scuffed effort in the opening 10 minutes, was practically anonymous before the interval, but his touch, turn and strike for the equalizer was truly world-class.

  • Ramires
    23
    7
    3.00

    Ramires

Guilty of some sloppy passing before the break, struggling to get going and adjust to the quick tempo of the game, but looked back to his usual, energetic self as the contest wore on.

  • Fernando Torres
    64
    5
    3.00

    Fernando Torres

Frustratingly isolated by a lack of service early on, with his lack of movement proving extremely easy to mark for the opposition. However, his sweeping finish earned Chelsea a barely deserved replay.

Substitutions

  • César Azpilicueta

    César Azpilicueta

Introduced to add more width to the team's attacks down the right, his excellent cross should have led to the equalizer through Bertrand.

  • Demba Ba

    Demba Ba

With the crowd crying out for the Senegalese striker to be brought on, he had a part to play in Torres' goal.

  • Juan Mata

    Juan Mata

Brought on for the second half and seemed to spur his teammates into action with his intelligent movement and probing play.
