Jose Luis Sanchez Sola earned his first win in MLS as Chivas USA beat FC Dallas 3-1 in front of 6,801 fans in the Home Depot Center on Sunday afternoon.
In a dreary match, the opening goal didn't come until just before the hour mark. Both Kenny Cooper and Miller Bolanos had wasted open chances. David Ferreira showed them how to finish. He squirmed along the left flank and cut inside Joaquin Velazquez before tucking the ball between Dan Kennedy's legs.
Much like in the season opener, a 3-0 loss to the Columbus Crew, Sanchez Sola made all three substitutions early, the last coming in the 64th minute against FCD. Unlike the Crew match, this time the Goats responded. Walter Vilchez played a long ball over the top in the 68th minute. Juan Agudelo pulled it down, switched over to his left to shake his marker, and slotted past Raul Fernandez.
Chivas USA completed the comeback with a quarter hour remaining. Je-Vaughn Watson played a stiff back pass to George John, whose trap was heavy. Oswaldo Minda sped onto the ball and tucked home the winner.
Substitute Giovani Casillas added an extra tally in stoppage time. On a breakaway after a Dallas corner, three Chivas USA attackers took on a lone FCD defender. They passed the ball around among them before granting Casillas the open shot.
