Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2-2 Chivas USA: Caps complete late comeback

The home side will rue not getting maximum points against the Western Conference bottom side, but it will at least be satisfied with a second-half fightback.

Erick Torres scored a first-half double, but it wasn't enough for Chivas USA to grab a road win, as the Vancouver Whitecaps scored two second-half goals to earn a 2-2 draw.

The visitors got off to a dream start, and it was thanks to a dream goal by Torres. A cross into the box was headed skyward by Andy O'Brien, and with his back to goal, the young striker hit a spectacular bicycle kick from 15 yards out that flew past David Ousted in the Whitecaps goal.

It wasn't long before “Cubo” had his second. Carlos Borja made a nice move to cut in and serve a cross from the right, and Torres was on hand in the box to flick a header on into the far corner.

The two-goal advantage would last until the 63rd minute, when Chivas goalkeeper Dan Kennedy strayed out to collect the ball and under pressure, his clearance went directly to Gershon Koffie, who was standing 40 yards from goal. The Ghanaian collected and fired a shot that caught Kennedy scrambling towards goal and after overrunning the ball, he couldn't keep the shot out.

The Caps completed their comeback with just seconds to play when substitute Tommy Heinemann finished inside the six-yard box after Erik Hurtado nodded Kekuta Manneh's cross back across the face of goal.
