D.C. United 3-1 Montreal Impact: Newcomers deliver rare United win

Three United newcomers scored as the team picked up a rare win in front of 12,354 at RFK Stadium.

D.C United recorded only its third win of the season, as Luis Silva, Conor Doyle, and Jared Jeffrey scored in a 3-1 win over the Montreal Impact at RFK Stadium.

United had a spell of sustained pressure in the early going and it paid off with a goal 20 minutes in. Luis Silva picked up a loose ball in the box and showed great composure to cut onto his right and fire through traffic to score off the far post. It was his third goal in just three games with DCU, incredibly making him the team's leading scorer on the season.

The visitors grabbed an equalizer five minutes into the second half. Jeb Brovsky played a one-two with Davy Arnaud, and the right back finished low to the far post for his first career goal.

DCU struck back with just over 20 minutes to play though, and it was the first MLS goal for the on-loan Conor Doyle. The striker timed his near-post run to perfection and slotted James Riley's cross home with the outside of his right foot.

With the clock running out, United picked up a late insurance goal. Both Doyle and Jeffrey were clean through on Impact goalkeeper Troy Perkins, and Doyle set up Jeffrey for a tap-in on a wide open net.
