As is so often the case, the Earthquakes got a late goal and this time, it was rookie Adam Jahn who came up big.

The San Jose Earthquakes and Portland Timbers played out a 1-1 draw at Buck Shaw Stadium Sunday evening as once again, the home team rescued the game late.

The Quakes had the slight advantage in the first half, as Timbers goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts was called into action for a pair of sharp saves on Steven Lenhart and later Chris Wondolowski.

It was Portland, however, which got on the board first. Diego Chara's through ball was cut out with a slide tackle by Steven Beitashour, but the ball popped up kindly for the onrushing Diego Valeri to volley home and give his side a 1-0 lead.

Just as it looked like the Timbers would steal a road win, the Goonies struck again. After a scramble in the box, the ball fell kindly for substitute Adam Jahn, and the rookie buried his shot in the corner. Once again, the Earthquakes had rescued a point in stoppage time.
