FC Dallas moved top of the Western Conference table with a 2-0 home win over Real Salt Lake, moving its record to three wins out of four games in the 2013 season.

"If you allow them to go at you all night, you are going to be struggling," Jason Kreis said. "We all noticed that they come at you extremely quickly. I didn’t think we were good enough with the ball in their half of the field. We stretched ourselves out at times, just playing too high with our forwards and giving too much space in the midfield."

At the midway point of the first half FCD had a certain goal as Josh Saunders ran off his line and left the goal open. David Ferriera crossed it to Kenny Cooper waiting just outside the six-yard box. The shot was stopped by a waiting Nat Borchers, who wisely left Cooper to stand on the goal line.

Dallas created a lot more chances in the second half, forcing Saunders to make a number of quick reaction saves to keep them off the scoreboard. It seemed to be only a matter of time as Castillo finally put one of the chances away, notching his first goal of the season. Jackson booted a cross-field ball that fell to Colombian on the left flank. Castillo cut inside and hit a shot that screamed above Josh Saunders into the roof of the net from a tight angle.

Jackson scored himself to seal the game. Saunders attempted to dribble the ball out after a backpass and ended up under pressure from the Brazilian. Unable to turn away quick enough, Jackson managed to prod the ball into the goal.

"I feel like I didn’t put my best effort out there towards the end of the game," Saunders said. "You have to stand up to what quality you can give, and I got beat high on the first goal, and then the second one was just such a lapse in pace to get the ball out of the box, and I take responsibility for that."

Two minutes later Yordany Alvarez was ejected. He picked up his second booking for diving just outside the box.
