Less than 24 hours after his arrival in Seattle, Obafemi Martins made his Sounders FC debut, coming on for the last 20 minutes of the draw with Portland.
The opening goal came in the 13th minute, before Martins entered. Steve Zakuani scooped up an errant Diego Chara pass and sprinted half the length of the field. Zakuani's low, bending cross only needed a simple tap-in from Eddie Johnson.
Marins, sucking in his cheeks, replaced Mario Martinez in the 70th minute.
The Timbers equalized a second before stoppage time began. Andrew Jean-Baptiste lifted the ball back into the box after Seattle had cleared, and Rodney Wallace headed into the top corner.
