Ricardo Clark helped Houston to a 2-0 win over D.C. United on Saturday night to get the defending Eastern Conference champion off to a flying start in the 2013 season.
Clark won his side a penalty in the first half but Brad Davis couldn't convert and the match would go to the break level.
Houston finally got on the board in the 80th minute from a corner, but it was United defender James Riley who got the final touch, heading into his own net while trying to stop Clark from getting on the end of Davis' service.
Clark rounded out the scoring just before full time, finishing off a flowing and somewhat fortunate move off a throw by hammering home a close-range shot after being set up by Warren Creavalle.
