- Sporting KC midfielder Graham Zusi led Major League Soccer in assists last season with 15.
- Philadelphia's all-time leading scorer Sebastien Le Toux returns after a year away. He scored 25 goals and made 20 assists in 62 appearances in his first stint with the Union.
- Both of these teams added a player with U.S. national team experience in the offseason. The Union grabbed Conor Caser in the Re-Entry Draft. KC traded for Benny Feilhaber.
