Marseille man Payet is no 'snake'
The 20-year-old Argentine signed for the Ligue 1 champions last summer but was immediately loaned back out to Rosario for the end of their season.
He has been in Paris since the beginning of the month, though, and while the attacker has been on the bench several times for the capital side, he is yet to make an appearance on the field, and admits that he is looking forward to his first taste of action.
“It’s not frustrating,” he told Goal. “Now I’m in a different reality. I came to one of the biggest clubs in Europe and I was aware of that. PSG have first-class players with big reputations and I’m young.

“Nevertheless, I’m eager to show why they brought me here. I know I can contribute when I have my chance.”
One player in particular will be a thrill for him to appear beside.
“Playing with Di Maria is a dream come true,” he admitted. “I idolised him when I was a child – he was the biggest star at Rosario, and now he’s my team-mate. It’s a privilege to train with him and with the rest of the team, they’re all first-class players.”

That opportunity to take a step up means that leaving his boyhood side is not the wretch it might have been.
“I’m very happy to be here. PSG is a well-renowned club all around the world, with high ambitions and who have won a lot of titles lately,” he explained. “That’s very motivating for me.
“I’ve always dreamed of playing in Europe, and I didn’t hesitate one second when this opportunity appeared.

“I think it was a wise choice to stay at Rosario Central until December.
“When that possibility appeared, it was something useful for everyone. We were playing the Copa Libertadores, a world-renowned competition and it was important for me to get some experience at international level.
“Those six months were very useful for me, but I was anxious to be here: I watched every PSG game.
“Now that I’m here, I’m grateful to the coach and my team-mates for their support. And especially to the president, sporting director Patrick Kluivert and the rest of the staff.
“I’m very thankful to everyone in Rosario Central for their love. I arrived to the club in 2010, when I was 13, and they always gave me everything. I dreamed about playing in the club I support and I could do it, it was a huge privilege. I want to send a big hug to every Canallas.”
